I was thinking of ideas for a different type of championship that isn't region based & thought the concept of a submission championship could bring something different & allow the wrestlers to have different kinds of matches from the rest of the card. Now I know Raw & Smackdown don't really need new championships but maybe it could work on nxt. They could have a tournament made up entirely of submission matches. I'd say dq's & countouts still apply & maybe limit the rope breaks to three similar to the old Roh pure championship.
Maybe someone like Oney lorcan could be the first champion.
Thoughts on the idea?

I'd stay away from the 3 rope breaks rule, that Pure title got a bit more complex than it needed to be. I don't mind this idea but you need a lot more guys to start using submissions on your show otherwise you're limiting yourself a ton. You might also be fighting the guys themselves as a lot fight being beaten by submission as they feel it makes them look to weak. Now that has changed a lot over the past couple of years with the rise of MMA but many still prefer to be pinned.

Good point on the rope breaks. I was just thinking it would give it that more sport like feel. As far as people preferring to be pinned, maybe the nxt guys would be more open to submitting. Of course there's always the pass out to look strong rather than tap option though that could be a slippery slope where all the big matches end that way. I'd like to see different submissions ending matches & submissions out of nowhere as opposed to guys go to finishing submissions ending matches.

Nobody wants to watch grappling matches on a large scale, it's boring and looks gay.
Why else do UFC fans boo grappling exchanges?

Some guys are pretty great with submissions. Guys like Mark Haskins and Zack Sabre Jr. have several submission moves they use to end matches. I think it'd require a lot more teaching in developmental, submissions are a difficult things to master. Everyone can do them but only some make it look great. Look at the sharpshooter, that move looks simple to do but when you look at how many bad versions we've seen over the years it makes it clear how hard these moves can be to apply.

Its already a better idea for a title than the United States and Intercontinental.

They tried this before, it was called UWFi and didn't amount to a hill of beans.
There's the real shit out there, copying it isn't going to make new fans.

Sure. Get rid of an existing title and I'd have no problem with it.

Its already a better idea for a title than the United States and Intercontinental. That you compare a non existant title that is being discussed to the currently existing and long historically standing titles baffles me. Sure the prestige has worn off, the belts have been shinned over and over and frankly yes sometimes they are used as a virtual prop over a meaningful ttile. It still doesn't kill the history. Many great champions got their start defending those titles and to say they mean nothing is an insult to them.
