I love to live in a world where Heath Slater gets to be the best part of SD.

He's pretty great in the role he's in and he isn't lost in the shuffle of Smackdown like he could be on Raw.

So why was the smackdown crowd chanting for Rhyno....when Slater was in the ring? Are we going to stop pretending this bandwagon isn't based off ironic cheering?

Rhyno on my tv in 2016 is not okay. His 15 minutes were up about 15 years ago.
Slater has been so entertaining. Good for him.

Ironic cheering can be turned into something real with the right workers and the right booking. The Mizdow thing almost got there before they blew it off in rather puzzling fashion last year. When you have that much time to fill every week, I'll take ironic cheering over the deafening silence of a Titus O'Neil and Darren Young feud. With Slater, it feels like a good comedy bit turned into a very entertaining part of both Raw and Smackdown because Slater is so good in the role, but the overall plan for the character never evolved to match the response. To that end, I think this week's vignette on Smackdown was a sign that we're back to flat-out comedy... and not even good comedy.

Though it began in a comedic sense, I found myself feeling for Heath Slater every time he is served bad luck.

The skit at the trailer park was brutal WWE comedy. When WWE tries to be funny they almost always fail.
Slater has been good in his role, but he's risking being overexposed if they continue to do lame comedy like they did on SD.

They've stumbled on something we like and it's cool, and they put their grubby, unfunny, uncool hands all over it and made it shit.

Anybody have a good Slater match for me to watch on the Network? I've always thought he was good in the ring, but I have no idea what his ceiling could be as a worker.

Every single thing on their show has their hands all over it. It's their show.

To that end, I think this week's vignette on Smackdown was a sign that we're back to flat-out comedy... and not even good comedy. I agree with it being better than Titus/Darren apathyfest. I just wish people online wouldn't act like Russo and think people should dispel their sense of disbelief and act like a good comedy character should somehow be pushed higher on the card. Then again, the certain crowds always do this with goofy characters.....then drop them when the company decides "hey, maybe we should do something with this guy". Slater this year....last year was Sandow....year before that was Fandango.....year before that was Ryder. Sandow may not be a good example because the guy was nothing but a wrestling cuck who watched his career get fucked with a smile on his face and a "I'm just happy to be here" attitude. Never has ONE person EVER gotten a push without fighting for their positions. Bischoff podcast with Hogan explained it perfectly....I suggest people give it a listen.

In fact, I'm pretty sure if WWE could undo one thing from it's history (other than the serious stuff like Owen's death, Benoit tribute, etc.), the advent of the "What?" thing might be near the top of the list.

How is people in the crowds overdoing a chant for ONE guy and using for EVERYONE for the past 13 years the WWEs fault?
Is the New Day Rocks chant and clap cadence their fault too?
