Ok so I've never been a fan of the Miz... Until tonight! youtu.be/8d4SLA4HYp0Watch this promo and let me know your thoughts. To me? I've been converted, this is the emotion, the passion that has been missing. This is classic promo that made me notice Miz and give a shit. He made the IC title the focus and just gave it (to me at least) the value it deserves. Why? Because he wants to defend it, he wants to retain it and fight for it. you can't have better from a champ.

Did Talking Smack just become required viewing?
Miz needs to lay waste to a legit guy in the main event next week to turn that promo into the start of something. One five minute promo was more effective than what they've been trying to do with Ziggler's character for almost a month.

Wow, that was pretty close to the bone in terms of hitting a shoot nerve with Bryan. The man's been pretty open recently about struggling mentally from his forced retirement and not even necessarily having fully accepted it even now. I wonder how much of that he actually agreed to beforehand and how much was on the fly and whether there's been any legit fallout since.

This is what wrestling is missing. SummerSlam, everyone left wondering how much of the Brock/Orton match was real and last night with the Miz/Bryan. I haven't felt this tensed about a shoot promo since the Rock/Cena feud. This is what I miss about wrestling. Regardless if this was a shoot or planned, it has everyone guessing and wanting to find out if this was real or not. I don't care what anyone says, Miz is money on the mic and after this segment they need to ride this out and take advantage of this opportunity. Miz's points are very valid as far as the importance of the title and the longevity. Miz can talk people in to the arena when given a chance to and he's not a bad worker by any means. I get that he is not everyone's cup of tea but he makes the most of his opportunities and I hope they take advantage of this moving forward.

Personally, I think there's too much (worked) shooting these days. Everybody - wrestlers and announcers - talks about the "performance" more than the result. And, while I'm not saying we need to get back to the days of wrestling garbagemen and dentists (though it they're still going to make Kane show up to TV every week...), there are other gimmicks than "disrespected, underutilized guy". The Miz's promo last night was an example of how worked shoots can be done effectively and painted his character as a necessary counter balance to a locker room full of "showstoppers". Now the Miz needs to win, not wear a chicken suit, and win some more.

RocketKing brought up an excellent point. Last week Miz was taking bumps in a chicken suit. This could be the start of an interesting story that captivates the audience. But it could also lead to a match where Miz gets beat up by a pizza delivery guy. I'm not getting my hopes up from a wicked promo on a network post-show.

I believe what he showed last night is that he can be taken seriously if presented the right way. Guess we'll see.....

Miz has to keep winning but through cheating. He can't kill guys.

Did Talking Smack just become required viewing? God no. The occasional important parts will be shown repeatedly on all their shows.

Loved this and the best part about it is that they're both right. Miz does wrestle soft, but Bryan gave too much at times in the ring. I'm not sure what they can do with either person moving forward though. Miz is midcard comedy and Bryan is an authority figure.

The 3 basics of a wrestling promo:
1) Bring shine to the title 2) Name the city you're wrestling at the next show 3) belittle you opponent while still keeping him strong.
Miz fits all 3 points. He's the new Chris Candido. So good at what he does people doesn't notice.

I hate to say it but will this actually matter by next week? How many times have guys cut these "incredible star making" promos and nothing changes. What about Cesaro after the draft? Ziggler's occasional promo on the network that people go nuts for? Nothing changes after. Hey if he proves this wrong I'm all for it, as much as people joke about his WWE title run he was so impressive leading up to it and he still has that talent there. Maryse has helped him recently and it would be great to see the IC title get put back in a key roll.

I like Miz, he's always been decent on the mic. Been sadled in the mid card for so long which is a shame.

I think it will carry over to next weeks Smackdown. This weeks smackdown was a blast. The writers are slowly reviving characters one-by-one. Talking Smack was Miz's turn. And if this wasn't by plan, then head writer Ryan Ward will ride the momentum he was given by The Miz.

Yeah remember when Sandow cut that promo after the Mizdow stuff? It felt like they were finally doing something with him. Then he just went straight back to being a clown. I hope this isn't that!
