Wrestlemania 22 (2006) I remember it well.
The roster was thinning, Austin, Rock, Brock were all gone and Angle & Taker were on the way out. Cena was pushed and the PG era was upon us, then,
HHH taps out to John Cena at WM22 and i thought - "Fuck this shit, im out'
and i pretty much switched off watching Raw on a regular basis, tuned in every year a few weeks before 'mania to see what was going on, same old shit, super cena overcoming the odds, not selling, not being funny, being incredibly annoying etc etc
Then the CM punk shoot, im back in and i've really enjoyed the last 12 months, it really looked like they were going to develop the Cena character, he lost to Punk, he was nt in the title picture, the Rock was getting the better of him, Kane was asking him to 'embrace hate', he lost to the Rock, he lost to Tensai, Piper, Edge, were questioning him, he was scared of Brock, all this screamed, change.
What happened?
Nothing, reset, super Cena gets a beatdown for 15 mins, wins, back to goofy Cena the next night as if nothing has happened, and to top it all, he's now in a main event match at the next PPV with the boss fpalm
I cant take it, if this is the script for this year, a big FU to anyone over the age of 13 then FU WWE, Its so dissapointing to think of the direction the WWE could be in after ER to the one we are now in.
Even the Cena marks must surely be bored with this crap?
So ... Time to switch off? (Again)

I stopped watching after the Benoit incident and only started watching again when I heard about the CM Punk shoot promo last year. It's not as bad as it was back then, but its still pretty recockulous. Now my kids are way into it, so there is no getting out of it again now.

it's a habit, won't go away, i don't like a lot of it, but something to bond with my son over, the same way my old man did with me, so i'll tolerate... and pay the absolute minimum possible to enjoy it for me it's about my son having cool memories with me the same way i did growing up with my old man... minus a kid, i'd be out too

Count me in as one of the guys who was out of wrestling in mid 2006 and got pulled back in by the CM Punk shoot.

I actually kind of stopped following as religiously it in late 2005, that whole year was a blur honestly. I picked it up every now and then but yes, the Punk promo got me watching it more and Lesnar got me excited again.
I hope I can still feel enjoyment later down the road this year instead of having my enjoyment sucked completely out of me.

I still watch it 28 years later. There have been times where I took breaks from watching it mostly Smackdown where I have gone 14 months then watch it for a few weeks and took another break from it a little over a year break. Right now if I miss something it doesn't bother me at all. One of the reasons why I still watch it is because of my eight year old nephew who is into it. We share a special bond over it.
He always asks me questions about the angles and storylines and is very knowledgeable. I try to get him to watch the older stuff of DVD's which he really likes. He has a lot of DVD's some which some I have gotten for him either for his birthday or Christmas.

If not perfect, the last year has been the best in a long time in my opinion. I think it's too soon to give it up, even if the last PPV pissed you off.

There are times, like after a botched Lesnar PPV, that I would like to think that if WWE folded I wouldn't miss it. For me its the time invested. I have tons of other crap to do, but I put it on hold to watch a big storyline come to a logical conclusion and when it doesn't, I feel like the WWE just don't give a damn about the hardcore fan. I understand why, marks aren't the target market to make the big money, but throw us a bone.
