With all this talk about how WWE changed the finish of Brock VS Cena at Extreme Rules because it would have been 'expected' and changing Kharma coming back to Layla returning, and other angles like changing the Jeff Hardy mystery attacker role from the Christian to Matt Hardy because it was expected or leaked out....
are there any actual success stories of angles being changed by WWE or TNA or any other companies because they were expected or leaked that actually worked and were successes?

for what it's worth, dave meltzer reported they told brock he's losing to cena weeks ago, i don't really see the point in changing because people know what's going to happen. everyone that goes to see a rocky movie knows he's gonna win, if there's a compelling journey to that conclusion who cares, that goes for wrestling too
edit: here found this in today's observer
The decision to put Cena over at Extreme Rules in Chicago’s All-State Arena on 4/29 was made probably before the match was announced. Lesnar was told at least two weeks ahead of time. He’s made it clear that he’s about the money, not the ego, and if they want him to lose, he has no problem with it as long as they play fair with him.

One I have heard for the longest time was that Lex Luger was supposed to win the WWF title at WM 10, but it got changed bc Luger got drunk at a bar the week of Wrestlemania in New York and was blabbing to everyone the finish of the match and that he was going to be the new WWF champ come the ppv. One of the guys that he was telling this to happened to be a reporter and the finish ended up getting out.
I consider this a plus because Bret ended up getting the title instead and I will take a Bret Hart championship run over Luger any day. Nothing really against Lex as I never really hated the guy as much as others did and still do, but I was firmly in the Bret camp at that time as a kid.
It should be noted that Lex has commented on this and said it is all a lie. He said the reason he never got the belt was of politics in back and people threatening to quit if he ever got the title. He said he knew for months before hand he would not win the belt at WM 10. Take it as you want it.

He said he knew for months before hand he would not win the belt at WM 10. Take it as you want it. I read somewhere that Vince McMahon felt that Luger wasn't connecting with the audience as he hoped. One of the main flaws of Luger's WWF run was the fact they had him celebrate after a count-out victory at SummerSlam '93. McMahon wanted to mold Luger as the next Hogan. Something that obviously did not pan out well. Fast foward to the 94' Royal Rumble. I would think there was a plan in place that made McMahon want Bret to walk out of 'Mania X as the WWF Champion. Luger began to get frustrated with the way he was being used after 'Mania X. Again, I read this over at another board that Luger kept on asking McMahon as to when he was going to win the WWF Championship. Since he was working without a contract from February to September 1995, he decided to bail out and jump ship to WCW. Luger wrestled a house show in the WWF the night before the Premire episode of Nitro. The rest is history.
