You have to be a pretty big mark to pick Cena over almost any of those other gimmicks. Those are harsh words. I think that you should reconsider that comment, especially in the light of the fact that Cena is the most prominent wrestler on the list and quite possibly the one who has drawn the most fans away from wrestling. To be fair though, for as many older fans that he's potentially pushed away he's drawing in younger fans who, with any luck, will stick around long after Cena has taken off. That's why it's difficult for me to look at his shtick and see a terrible gimmick because, really, it's worked. His superman act was eye-gougingly terrible a few years back, but it made moments like Edge going over at New Years Revolution legendary and it made his losing to the Rock a HUGE deal. We have no idea what Cena would have been like in a non-PG, more Attitude like environment, all we have is the PG era and as much as I don't enjoy him I think he's been a huge success.

Agreed, the bottom line is that Cena has sold merch and puts butts in seats. Maybe not yours or mine but someone's. I would say that the definition is a worst gimmick would be a gimmick that sold zero merch, put no-one in a seat and likely had the plug pulled on it very quickly. Like the bulk of those listed in the initial post. If you just go by people who annoy the heck out of you that's different criteria. Start a new thread about that and I will talk about Xpunk and Mongo McMichael.

-I don't care what people say, Oklahoma was just down right distasteful That was one of my votes. I found that gimmick in very poor taste by WCW

The answer for me is Eugene. Sorry. As someone with an autistic brother, I couldn't watch a single Eugene segment without feeling angry. He wore his jacket inside out and buttoned-up wrong, I mean he was a perfectly "normal" guy (Nick Dinsmore) portraying a mentally handicapped person. I found it tasteless and even now get angry thinking about it.

With Oklahoma they were tottaly insensetive and made fun of a guy with a disease. But with Eugene he was a great Wrestler and knew a ton about old school Wrestling. Eugene's training video, Musical Chairs in Winnipeg and his bouncy house are some of my favorite moments in the past 10 years.

In a lot of ways, Santino is kind of like Eugene without the autism. I agree that their portrayal of Eugene was misguided, just like it always is when they try to deal with serious issues (like Billy & Chuck, Mohammed Hassan, etc)

After watching Impact and giving it some thought I have changed my mind to Mr. Anderson.

Isn't the Rooster regarded as the worst ever? Must be a lot of youngins on the board and it was before their time, thus the lack of votes. Somewhere, Terry Taylor is smiling that the Rooster is forgotten.
