Not sure if this was caught on the Facebook page (yeah, that timeline sucks out loud), but FCW is back on. The March 25 episode was skipped and the show that should have aired April 1 was shown instead on April 5. As of this past Sunday, the show seems to be back on track because it aired in its usual day and time.
Opening was Byron Saxton vs. the man with the super-powered flashlight hand, Kenneth Cameron. Not much to see here other than a rare wrestling appearance from Saxton, who was decent.
Next, a random inter-gender tag match (maybe this is where SmackDown got the idea?) with Paige & Ric Victor vs. Audrey Marie & Aiden (Seriously? That's a guy's name?) English. English and Victor were somewhat bland, but the girls looked good. Audrey Marie is average, but Paige is a great worker and actually had Audrey stepping up her game while they were in the ring. I'd be down for a singles match between the two.
A Seth Rollins promo (the title with his name has the belt under it - nice touch) follows kinda hyping up the Jack Brisco 15 Title Match later tonight. After that, we go Backstage with Summer Rae (who I still think has a face like a dog's ass) telling Bronson (yes, the psycho psychiatrist) that he will be facing Dean Ambrose next week in the first-ever FCW "Tap Out" match. Regal then stops by for a second, and he and Ambrose stare down for a second. Absolutely can not wait for a rematch between those two; I'd recommend finding their first match online. Like, right now.
A Kassius Ohno Promo follows with more of the same content as his first one. Then, a weird Husky Harris promo (flanked by Eli "why on earth do I still have a job here?" Cottonwood) Promo talking about watching his daddy burn when he was 8 years old. It looks like Harris may be up for a gimmick change; think Robert De Niro in "Cape Fear". I hope this was an anomaly, as Harris was fine before and I don't see the need for this at all.
And finally, in a damn fine main event, Ritchie Steamboat (c) vs. Cesaro for the Jack Brisco Title with a 20 minute time limit. Called by Jim Ross with Steven Regal on color. A fan's dream. Match was pretty good overall, made better by Ross calling the action. Steamboat took a nasty spill outside at one point, bouncing his head off the apron on the way down. He spent the rest of the match selling the head and neck, which Cesaro took full advantage of. Eddie Guerrero had the triple vertical suplex; Cesaro apparently has a triple side salto (!) that he hit on Steamboat late in the match that looked pretty devastating. Match went to a draw with each scoring 1 fall at the end of the time limit (which I'm sure would have thrilled John Pollock to death). All in all, it was another great example of why I watch this show regularly.
I figured in case anyone was interested, I'd let you know the show is apparently alive and well. If anyone's still interested, I can do this sort of update every week.
