This Friday on Review-A-Wai, Wai Ting and I will be reviewing the recently released Kevin Owens DVD / Blu Ray with a look at the documentary and extras.
We will also be joined by Pat Laprade, who has covered Owens' career for well over a decade and will chat his early years and rise through the independents.

First of all I would like to welcome John back after his recent hiatus as he prepares for long plenty of crying & screaming along with long sleepless nights, but thats what watching Raw & Smackdown can do to you. I would also like to congratulate him on the birth of his first child.
Another excellent documentary by the WWE, great story told. Good to see them get them coverage from ROH, CZW etc which was vital in telling the story and they interviewed the correct people with the likes of Sami Zayn, Neville, Jimmy Jacobs, Seth Rollins etc which is far better than when they used to get the likes of Santino Marella & The Brooklyn Brawler as talking head on what seemed every single DVD. One of the biggest highlight of the documentary for me was the promo he cut on Sami Zayn at the PC which was superb.
The documentary probably ends at the right time as his title run didn't exactly set the world on fire and his character currently is pretty stale.

I'm not breaking new ground when I say WWE make excellent documentaries. Thought they summed up Owens within the first 30 seconds when his little girl was at the top of the stairs, you can tell he adores his family. They also grabbed so many key figures in his stories like Zayn, Jacobs, Corino and even Beef Wellington. I was originally a bit annoyed that the documentary was only an hour long as I thought there was a lot more you could go into detail about, especially his constant battle with Jim Cornette backstage in ROH, but after watching the special features that complaint was pretty much gone. I don't know why they didn't inject some of those features into the main documentary as they did add a lot but it's not as if we didn't get to see them at all. If you liked Owens before then you'll love this and if you didn't I feel this would make you like him.

Alex from Minneapolis I really liked the documentary as i felt it did a a good job telling Kevin Owens story. The only problem I feel is that wwe has gone into a pattern of making documentaries timed at an hour and rushing through a lot of the person in focus. I felt in this case, that the focus of the steen generico feud could have been discussed a bit more
3 questions 1. Do you guys know why Owens went from being the top guy in ROH to falling into the mid card after losing the belt to jay briscoe before leaving a year later?
2. Does it look like PWG will be more willing to lend footage to wwe for their documentaries going forward.
3. Do you guys think that the steen generics feud is over looked considering it used Final Battle as an storyline arc from 2009-2012?

Javier from Richfield Really enjoyed the kevin Owens documentary and felt it did a great job telling his story. It was a benefit that Steve Corino and Jimmy Jacobs were used in the doc as their incite was very useful. It could have helped to hear Jim Cornette's point of view as it would give both sides of the story. It's telling how so many guys who crossed paths like Rollins and Neville had their doubts of Owens getting signed.
2 questions 1. Is it fair to say that Owens is filling the void that CM Punk left as far as the heel that the smart fans cheer for.
2. Do you guys see wwe being able to get footage from TNA like they do with ROH if they plan on doing a documentary on Joe and AJ?

Chris from Melbourne, Australia.
Without repeating what was already said, I forgot that for Kevin English is a second language and yet he still speaks it so well, his promos are so much greater than most of the WWE roster. A great look back on his past and I was surprised by how much ROH & Indy footage WWE got.
Question: Which Kevin-Sami turn was most shocking, ROH Final Battle or NXT Takeover?
