It doesn't seem sustainable to me, mainly because it doesn't make sense. They want it to be a separate brand and at the same time be the Minor Leagues, as evidenced by Charlotte saying to Bayley, "You're not in NXT, anymore."
So, now you have a situation where Samoa Joe, Nakamora and Bobby Roode are minor leaguers and The Ascension, Tyler Breeze and James Elsworth are major leaguers.

It's basically the same feeling as the relationship between ECW & WWE back in the late 90's. One is seen as the minor league but has die hard fans that love it and the other is the major league that picks off the other & benefits. With the main difference this time being that there's a relationship between the 2 and we all know it instead of pretending they're fighting each other.

NXT is still a developmental league, you have journeymen all over minor leagues who may never go to the big show like an NHL.
Doesn't mean minor league clubs don't have their own specific fans.

How can you not be a minor league hockey fan when you have teams like the Greenville Swamp Rabbits, Roanoke Rail Yard Dawgs, and the Berlin River Drivers?

Sometimes the minors are still fun to watch. And sometimes the majors are duller than watching paint dry. Like last nights Raw.

I like the mix of "developmental" and "touring/drawing promotion" in NXT. It gives WWE a chance to start seeing return on their investments on guys like Samoa Joe and Nakamura without having to rush them to the main roster without a plan. I'm not saying they always execute this correctly, but still...
