A simple question: what in your opinion are the best pro-wrestling Videogames of all time?
Discuss in here. (If people give their top fives I'll compile them into a single list and we'll get a definitive LAWproboards ranking). Also, for those that immediately want to put No Mercy as their #1: Wrestlemania 2000 is the more fun game of the two (in my opinion)...

No Mercy 64, WCW vs NWO: World Tour and Smackdown: Shut your mouth.

The Original Smackdown 5 for me but Shut Your Mouth is the better overall game of the five!

No love for Here Comes The Pain? It's my personal favorite of the PS2 WWE games simply because of the roster (and if memory serves the career mode only allowed you to challenge for titles when you had enough points to do so?).

I always felt like the redundant stories on career mode and the lack of commentary really hurt Here Comes The Pain.

Dude, wrestling games were waaaaaaay better without the commentary. Now, if they could get it to call the matches properly like a Madden or a FIFA then yeah, have the commentary, but repeating the same phrases over and over - usually ones that are out of date by the time the game comes out - with no real enthusiasm really bugs me.
In fact, thinking about it, a good chunk of the sound annoys me on present day WWE games. The ring announcer is a particular lowlight.

No Mercy by a country mile. 2K doesn't know what they're doing, all the newer wrestling games suck. If they just used the No Mercy game engine and updated it with PS4 level graphics, they'd have the perfect wrestling game.

Once I'm done ooh-ing and ahh-ing over the pretty ring entrances and whatnot, I usually play with the sound off.

I LOVE Here Comes the Pain! It's the most easiest in terms of grappling & fighting. But the AI isn't as strong as SYM, and as Deezy already mentioned, the repetitive season hurts it. I do have a soft spot for SmackDown and SmackDown 2: Know Your Role because I can challenge titles in Exhibition mode. But yeah, SmackDown: Shut Your Mouth #1 for me. SmackDown: Just Bring It was terrible and anything after Here Comes The Pain is just as bad.

No Mercy and Revenge are the two best by a mile.
The earlier Smackdown games were also good, both Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain.
I also want to give some love to Wrestlefest the arcade game, so much fun.

No Mercy clearly wins this everytime for good reason.
Sure, some people like particular story lines in other games (and subjectivity is bound to that).
It's crazy that many fans lament the Attitude Era and No Mercy. But it is what it is.
No Mercy is your answer.

...But is No Mercy better than Fire Pro Wrestling Returns with one of the many easily available edit files that give you pretty much every wrestler you can think of?
For example, I've just been playing Fire Pro Wrestling Returns in a 16 man tournament in which I included Hiroshi Tanahashi, AJ Styles, Noamichi Marufuji, Daniel Bryan, CM Punk and Kota Ibushi. To people raised on 3D games it might not look great but for the older generation it's pretty decent to look at and has some sweet Japanese guitar rock tunes.

No Mercy is the one that I played the most. trying to get 100% on every belt was my life goal. Never did accomplish it.
