I get SHAW...for free, wink wink. So I guess I'm still screwed.

I'm with Shaw and we don't have it on our local cable system. But that's not a surprise, their offerings are terrible if you live in a smaller community. Even with little interest, I'd probably kick in the 12 bucks to watch it on the Network if it was an option... but I'm definitely not paying $65 to watch it on PPV. And why should you buy it for $65? The WWE Announcers, as instructed by Vince via the headsets, repeatedly tell potential buyers they would be ridiculous to pay the full PPV cost.

I think some are confused on what I stated. I'm not a cable tv subscriber. I cut cable years ago. No need for it. Netflix + Youtube+ OTA HD Antenna has been more than enough for me. I just wanted to order the WWE network on it's own, like you can with Netflix. In Canada you have to be a cable tv subscriber and then you can order the WWE network. They won't let you have the WWE network without having cable tv first. Whatever, it is what it is. I have an extra $12 in my pocket each month then, so be it.

Only way you could do it otherwise would be to subscribe to a VPN service so that you got a US IP address, you could then subscribe to the network on its own.

Why is it not an over-the-top service in Canada?

To get the American WWE network in Canada is very simple. There are a ton of how to's and videos online. I got it by signing up with a fake American address then used an addon in Google Chrome to change my IP, super simple.

Why is it not an over-the-top service in Canada? Rogers bought all rights to be the sole distributor of WWE Canadian content, thus they control how it all can be seen in Canada. They didn't want a revolt so they offer a "plug in" type of WWE network access to Canadians for all content, however if you just wanted to buy Direct WWE Network over the internet, they could not control that, so I'm guessing they put it in their contract they get exclusive rights to all distribution. And Canada gets the lube job without the lube.

Due to the current plummeting Canadian dollar I think it is now cheaper to order WWE Network in Canada that continue the US subscription (which I currently have thanks to Unblock-Us). So, gonna cancel and hope that I can watch the online content through Chromecast.

I'm in Saskatchewan and I'm with Sasktel which is through Bell.
I still can't legally get the network.

Many have theorised that this existing deal put the kibosh on the initial launch end of last year, so I can only assume they came to some financial agreement, or even that Sky weren't interested in having a standalone channel.
