is that Spike TV hates Vince Russo. This is according to Meltzer. Call me crazy, but I do not know why TNA would take such a chance when their tv contract is up for renewal.
Today, everybody thought TNA would announce a new TV deal after the company stated on social media that a BIG announcemnet was coming today. Instead, the BIG announcement was that Jeff Hardy had "invited" his brother Matt to be on Impact this week.

So W-1 and Spike both reportedly dislike Russo in addition to the negative stigma attached to his name in general, yet TNA insists on keeping him on the payroll as a consultant....yup. Seems about right for them.

It is amazing how small the creative talent pool must be in the world of wrestling that this man still gets regular work after all these years. I literally think that any one of us would have better insight into the current product/market. And we'd come a lot cheaper too!

So W-1 and Spike both reportedly dislike Russo Difference is that John Gaburik supposedly told Wrestle-1 that while Russo was indeed with TNA, his power was limited because he was working under Gaburik. For Spike, they were under the impression that Russo was not currently employed at all by TNA.

Regardless, the point is they should not be employing someone who their business partners loathe.

doesn't everyone dislike Russo? Maybe his mother likes him, but that's about it.

Mike Sempervive: Spike's hatred of Vince Russo. Is it... Obviously, you could have a million and one reasons for this. Is there anything more than something else that is.. Was there a tipping point in really hating Vince Russo?
Dave Meltzer: No.
Mike Sempervive: Well, Hmmm.
Dave Meltzer: Ahhhh
Mike Sempervive: Maybe they read Bryan's book.
Dave Meltzer: Laughs. Maybe they just watched the tv.
Mike Sempervive: Well yes. Good point.
Dave Meltzer: They just watched their own tv.

I personally like Vince Russo and his chaotic booking. A couple years ago I watched every WCW show from the April 2000 reboot until the end of WCW. As campy and stupid as a lot of it was I was entertained. Isn't that the point? Wrestling is a show. It's supposed to be entertaining and to me Vince Russo's booking especially in the time he was apart of TNA creative in the early years entertains me and makes me want to watch the next week.

I think you are in the minority. About two decades ago I used to like Russo too, though only if he worked through a filter. He definitely left his mark on the wrestling world through his "crash tv" style of booking. But over the years he got worse, especially when given more free reign. His ideas of making Tank Abbott the World Champion, reverse Battle Royales, etc have been met with facepalms the world over. I do think that he's a very creative person so, in theory, using him as a consultant isn't that bad of an idea. But FFS it's been 20 years now… it's time to get some fresh input from some younger people out there who have new/more relevant ideas, especially when it comes to TNA. Vince Russo doesn't "get" TNA. He gets his own idea of professional wrestling, but that's it, and it's time to move on from that.

As long as Vince Russo provides Pollock with more reasons for that incredible impression, I say keep him around.

You'd be surprised how common it is in the business world too... once you've failed upward once, there is always someone else who will give you another similar job. That TNA keeps willing to make mistakes over and over again on the same guy is kind of mind blowing, but Russo isn't the only one they do it on, but it seems their entire history is eking it out in spite of themselves.
