Thinking way out of the box, but what if TNA opened up with 2, 4 or 6 of their best workers (or a battle royal format) and then let it go on for the entire show, making it the longest match in the history of televised pro wrestling (if there is such a record). Certainly the more guys, the more rest spots you could do so they can maintain for 2 hours straight, but do you think this idea would bring more interest to TNA? Certainly ladders and other weapons would have to be introduced sporadically to keep interest up for such a long time.

If you don't got it, get it. If you don't get it, figure it out.

I remember hearing that Jim Cornette booked something like that in OVW. It wasn't two hours but it lasted for the entirity of the TV show. It was in the format of a winner-stays-on gauntlet match and featured most of the roster. I think Matt Morgan won it.

I'd actually build it for a pay per view. Something to spice things up and do something new.

There were times where I thought they might do a 2 hour promo after 25 minutes and the opening promo still going.

TNA did a show back when they were 1 hour on Spike during primetime where there was only 1 match and it was about 50 minutes in length.
It was June 28th 2007 I think. Kurt Angle vs Rhino vs Christian Cage for the TNA World Heavyweight Championship.

I think two hours would be too long for one match.

jimuni's on the button, it was fantastic. IIRC was there one with AJ as well? 2 hours is too long for one match. But an hour certainly. Like WWE did with HBK/Cena a couple of years back!

I actually remember reading of a match that long here were the results. It was just short of 3 hours September 11, 1972 in Memphis,TN Mid-South Coliseum drawing 4,650
Cora Combs won a "battle royal." Also in the match were Marlene Belkas, Sara Corsica, Patsy Drake, and Sandy Partlow.
The Great Fuji beat Jay Clintstock.
Roy Lee Welch beat George Hultz.
Steve Kyle, Al & Don Greene NC Jackie Fargo, Eddie Marlin, & Oni Wiki Wiki (172:00) after 44 falls of a "Texas tornado death" match. The athletic commission stopped the match due to the ring falling apart.

You'd need an incredible angle to build it and workers who can really go - not just with ability but obviously stamina. Even with lots of rest holds. And it would have to be elimination to some degree - pinfall or over the top (but then its practically a giant royal rumble)

I'd watch a 2 hour Royal Rumble. But I'm a mark for clusterfucks.

I don't think it's possible at this point, the audience is so used to skit-heavy broadcasts that even 1/2 hour 'Iron Man' match would be a hard sell.
It makes me think back to when they did just that with Brock and Angle on Smackdown, the 30 minute match was an example of Vince spoon feeding decent wrestling to the audience. I remember really enjoying it but it was an aberration, you'd never see it today from any promotion.

The modern audience is not trained to appreciate a TV match that goes longer than 30 minutes. Even the TNA audience (which used to be way more into workrate than the typical WWE fan) is not programmed to sit down for a marathon match like that.

Would have to be a gauntlet style wouldn't it , have someone who can go start and stay right till the end , only to get screwed ofcourse.
