According to the Wrestling Observer WWE has seen a spike in its value since Oct 25, 2017. Over that period the share price has increased by $7.55 resulting in the company value increasing by $582 million.
Vince McMahon's personal fortune has also seen a big increase to $1.47 billion, meaning he is richer now than almost any time in history.

I mean, yeah, "but ratings", but it's also not surprising that a rich corporation in America is getting richer. They even had budget cuts this year, so it's entirely possible that those were entirely for the express benefit of shareholders.

Not surprising. Large corporations and the stock market are doing well in Trump’s America.
Plus think of all the cuts they made with no more pyro and other stuff. Even then they can just cut pay or dump talent to appease stockholders at anytime because they’re a monopoly. Not like guys are making any money off the network either.

I give Maria Kanellis a 10 out of 10.
...Nevermind. Those are my "butt ratings". Different thread.

The no Pyro thing makes me laugh...their entire set is all LED....one would think the blast of Pyro would screw those up. Don't think budget...think practicality.

I had something to say about ratings and then I saw the title of your thread.
How relevant are they really ? If I go on twitch and there's a streamer, that tells me exactly how many viewers he/she has at any moment.
How do they know on TV ?

So, there's the Nielsen ratings (wherein a family signs up to get a box attached to their TV that tracks viewing habits), which is where modern ratings come from most generally. However, with modern on-demand and streaming services, diversified global markets (and globalization writ large), the more useful number (not that either is useful for an average layperson) is more market share over ratings, which describes more accurately how a modern corporation is doing. Ratings probably mean less now as a concept than they ever have.

Nielsen boxes are outdated and their metric is too....they said that themselves in the summer of 2016...and the reason why wrestling audiences along with network tv viewers was skewing towards 40-75 demo is because that's who still have Nielsen boxes and watch terestial tv.
Which is why I've been slamming people who cling to ratings for their narrative as long as I've been here.

With things like DVR's ratings haven't meant that much in a while. Very few watch live these days, can't tell you the last time I actually watched any wrestling live outside of going to a show.

Don't these also have a rating system? I mean they can tell who recorded it on those boxes...I though it counted as like .3 or something like that.

Ratings and "Trump's America" aren't relevant to WWE's recent stock performance.
One of the most annoying holdbacks from the Monday Night Wars is that so many fans have this antiquated, TBH ignorant idea of how important ratings are to the point where some, including on this board (no offense) act like a bad number here or there or declining cable viewership trends is some existential threat to WWE's immediate future. Agree w. deezy at the tired 'but ratings' nonsense we always see.
The impressive Q3 results in October, which had jack shit to do with ratings or "Trump's America", set the groundwork for the stock to do very well. It's no coincidence the stock's ascent began literally the same day the Q3 report was released.
