Great. Just great. So you'll have two distinct set of kids. Those sad because their dads/moms are not with them on Xmas and those pissed off at their dads for bringing them to a fucking wrestling show on Xmas thinking it'd be cool.
And it will be a horrible show like every Xmas show.
Unless Reigns shows up and calls Santa a fake ass bitch.

I think a live show on Christmas is a dumb idea for all of the reasons already covered by Pollock and elsewhere. But since they're going to do it, my only hope is that they actually try to make it a big show and not a throwaway "Holiday RAW" like we've come to expect on Memorial Day and such. Also, don't make 20 unnecessary workers show up on Christmas just so you can have a food fight.

I can imagine Dolph showing up at the arena, happy to finally have a secure spot, if anything, on the crappy Xmas show no one is gonna give a crap about. He's salivating at the prospect of a bunch of pissed off wrkers not wanting to put that much of an effort, thus giving him the spotlight to have a match of the year candidate. This is it, oh yeah, this is it. It's my time, Xmas will belong to m...

Definitely a USA Network call and not WWE's.
Some would say that this was common in the 80's (just look at WCCW and their Star Wars shows) but still, it really sucks for talents not being able to spend Christmas & New Year's with their families.

Xmas at the Ziggler's house might not be the happiest this year.

New to wrestling?
They had shows on Christmas and New Years and all major holidays forever, holiday shows were where the big paydays came from.

It's not like couples are going to be apart from each other, a lot work on the same show. Dean/Renee, Cena/Nikki, Naomi/Jimmy etc. They'll be together during the day and work at night. Having said that it doesn't really justify it to me, like it's been mentioned it's not a good idea and it probably won't make much of a difference at all.

NBA and NFL players don't tour the world all year around.

the local indy that runs Saskatoon (Canadian Wrestling Elite) is running New Year's Eve here in Saskatoon. 7:00 bell time, so probably done around 9ish. But still. Surprised they are not running in the afternoon.
and as Deezy said, Thanksgiving and Christmas day cards were huge back in the early 80's. Thanksgiving shows especially.

Back in the '80s they also used to promote shows based on someone dying. Fritz Von Erich comes to mind.

Agreed. Just tape the damn show, like anyone watching is going to care vs the wrestlers caring about spending well earned time with their family.

Back in the '80s they also used to promote shows based on someone dying. Fritz Von Erich comes to mind. Blanket statement example....I've had to work during Christmas and other holidays for both clerk jobs and camp construction. Another broad blanket statement.... see how that doesn't help? I know how to quell this fake outrage #17462427392 this year.....Clear Daniel Bryan and Kurt Angle for a one in one match during this Christmas show.... Maybe we shouldn't want a John and Wai Xmas show....let them spend time with their families....doing those 3 hour shows with multiple guests has to take more time away with editing then an episode of Raw.

Like John mentioned on Review-a-Raw, yes they did regular Christmas shows back in the territory days but the guys were local so they still had the bulk of the day for themselves. These workers are going to have to travel, which will probably be a huge pain in the ass over the holiday session, and then likely spend a lot of the day at the arena.

Above all else, the NBA owns Christmas Day. No one will be watching WWE. Makes zero sense
