Stables involving Cruiser weights would help as well.
On one hand, we have the ROH stable in NXT, all 3 are cruiser weights. Let that stable exist in WWE as a group that wants too (and at times, does) dominate the cruiser weight division - give Cole the belt and ReDragon Cruiser weight tag belts. But also don't completely seperate the cruiser weights and make them something seperate from the rest of the roster. Use Balor similar to how NJPW did - leader of a stable including bigger guys and Cruiser/Junior Heavyweight champ. If someone like Black or Cargano isn't in a cruiser weight championship feud, let them feud with bigger guys while circling back around to the championship etc...

Cruiserweights are doing more crazy shit than most of the roster.
That isn't the issue.
Maybe if the division wasn't proclaimed to be dead on arrival before they made their Raw debut....they'd be in better shape.
It wasn't purple ropes, it wasn't their own show....it was already a failure before they had ONE match on Raw....if they were on Smackdown with Daniel Bryan...it would've had more leeway to grow.
Even if theres no time for them on Smackdown.

Even if theres no time for them on Smackdown. Thats the point - the current group are good works but lack personality and fans don't care about them. They are dumped in meaningless tag match after meaningless tag match and the belt is pretty much exclusively defended on pre-shows. BUT If they put their top cruiser weight talent on the belt - namely Finn Balor right now, and then bring the NXT guys I mentioned up.....now you have a division people care about and that would have enough star power that you can't just shuffle it off to the pre-show. I don't think they need to be with Bryan, its more about the wrestlers - they need a good roster of Cruiser Weight talent (not just in-ring talent, the guys on the roster already have that) to build the division on.

One of the problems, IMO, is that the cruiserweights are not that different from main guys like AJ, Rollins, etc. Back in WCW they would do stuff that the main guys wouldn't even dare to try but now what's reallt the difference between, say, Swann and Balor?

I hope that if they axed the UK show that Dunne, Bates, and a couple of the others would form a Bruiserweight Stable and come in and try to take over 205 Live with a story line of "they need a new home since theirs was taken, so they picked 205 Live". Then at Survivor Series hold a 5 vs 5 with best of 205 Live vs the best of UK Show and winning roster gets to keep their show. Then just combine the two titles and keep it as the winning sides title.

Mmmh... wrestlers fighting over a timeslot because the show they were previously on was axed because of poor interest doesn't seem like a good marketing idea.

Working with Cena is garbage these days? Big Show is garbage? Ok so Show isn't a huge name but he certainly isn't garbage! I must have missed that Cena/Cass feud after he turned heel. I was speaking more of the overall booking of him. Cena gave Cass and Enzo the rub by teaming with thema few times, I think they were planning a cena/Cass thing but he got hurt. I'm not saying Cena was a huge rub but even teaming with him is a rub.

I completely forgot that they teamed with him. It seems like they're doing Cena/Reigns before anything else on Raw so Cass would have needed another program in the meantime.

That why 1) They need some cruiser weights that people actually care about and want to watchin (like Balor) and 2) The Cruiser weights need to be allowed to be more creative in the ring. And you comparison isn't great - Balor is a cruiser weight.

Putting Balor in the cruiserweight division is like putting Roddy Piper in the wcw version just because of his size....that's not how it works.
Balor is a top guy...he's above that cruiserweight ceiling.

Putting Balor in the cruiserweight division is like putting Roddy Piper in the wcw version just because of his size....that's not how it works. Balor is a top guy...he's above that cruiserweight ceiling. Thats the problem right there- you are automatically slotting the cruiser weights in as a less important element of the show/company. They are automatically 2nd rate. If they were any good, they'd be wrestling bigger guys. If Neville was really any good he'd be after the IC or Universal title, he's settling for the Cruiser Weight belt. If people like Balor and other cruiser weights in NXT like Cole or Black work with the heavy weights when they come up because they are "above" the cruiser weight belt, then just get rid of the division, it will never take off. If the cruiser weight division is going to work and the title mean something, you need your top cruiser weights wrestling for it. If its just going to a dumping ground for smaller guys they have no interest in really pushing and as a current jerker for PPV pre-shows, just get rid of the belt and the show, save some money and give that time other guys who need the time and might get pushed.
