I've been on a bit of a Cornette kick lately as Kayfabe Commentaries have released a new WCW timeline with him and while I find him very entertaining to listen to I find his opinions have become a little hard to take. I mean recently Jim compared Kota Ibushi & Kenny Omega to Hitler! There's part of me that thinks he might be aiming for some attention but the rest of me thinks it's just his actual opinion. What are other peoples opinion on the man and his views on wrestling? Jim Cornette is one of the most entertaining guys in the wrestling business to listen to. I often times disagree with his viewpoints but I enjoy his rants nonetheless. He is a very funny guy. He barely watches the current product and performers, so I take his criticisms very lightly. I enjoy listening to people who have a contrarian point of view and aren't beholden to the school of Meltzer and smart markdom. It seems like most people are sheep like and have a mob like mentality when it comes to adopting the accepted narratives put out by others..... I see where Cornette is coming from with Omega and Ibushi wrestling kids and objects. He's got a point but it would be more valid if he critiqued Omega and The Bucks for over using moves. Kenny has kidnapped Nakamura's knees and uses them 18 times per match, when really one or two should be the knockout blow, and The Bucks matches are entertaining but nonsensical. They treat everything as a goof and their matches never seem like real physical or competitive struggles. The Bucks are just a really cool wrestling cover band(DX,Hardy's,NWO), that does fun looking spots.

I think there's an element to Cornette the entertainer where he tries to be controversial in order to keep his name out there, but it's like being a wrestler; it's just himself with the volume turned up.
As far as Cornette the person goes, I agree with most of his opinions in theory, but he tends to take things to extremes and I think he's tightly strung so I can't imagine he'd be fun to work with. But yeah he does have a lot of great knowledge and even a lot of great ideas.
I guess what I'm saying is he's complicated.

Okada hit the rainmaker (or a version of it) about 6 times and that's his finisher. No one really complained as it was just part of the match and the style. Tanahashi rarely hits just 1 High Fly Flow to win. I'm with you though, Omega's knees are brutal as well so he should really only be hitting a couple a match to win.
