As I'm sure many have seen by now...
As an interesting side-note gleaned from Reddit, I believe the US Championship is the last active belt with WCW lineage*, and AJ Styles might be the last WCW alumni to ever hold it. The only other options (under contract) that I can think of would be Big Show, Goldust, Jericho or Triple H (or a really random retired worker like Booker, Finlay, Regal, etc.).
* I have no idea if the WWE Championship or any of the tag belts technically have WCW lineage after all of the unifications and whatnot. But if they do, said lineage is significantly more diluted than the US strap.

I don't mind these kind of title changes, the ones on house shows make it seem like you have to go because something big could happen, but I wish it wasn't the US title. Not saying they should change the World title but I think it's hurting Owens to much. It seems like they want to get behind him with this US title run but then he loses it & wins it back to often. I mean he's more than likely to win it back from AJ.

should do title changes at small town house shows.....like when Miz and Morrsion won the tag titles.
if house show business is down....you make them must see with title changes.

If anything I am surprised this wasn't on the WWE Network. For a company in a need for content, airing a show at MSG, especially with a title change should be considered a big deal.

yeah, one title change on a house show per year would be good. Let fans know that there is always a chance. Doesn't need to be the world title or anything, just something to give fans hope.

Apparently, AJ vs KO is now off the Battleground PPV.

I was just thinking this week about the role of Madison Square Garden in the current WWE landscape. It's too small for a modern Wrestlemania (20,000) and WWE prefers Barclays (18,000) for its other big NYC events.
I know I'm not the first person to ever suggest this, but I wish WWE would cave on its "every show needs to look the same... except for the color of the ropes" mentality and put the MSG shows on the Network. They'll still sell out the building if the card is worth watching, and they could just do a couple of cameras and two announcers. They could even package it as "old school" or something like that to explain the different feel.
Long story short is that I'm in my 30s and I'm from the Northeast, so I'd love to see more wrestling at the Garden.
