RIP to a classic in pro wrestling.
RIP to Nicole Bass too.
What a shitty day.

George Steele was a little before my time but did see some of his stuff when watching older shows, which like many wrestling fans I did a ton of when I first started watching. I remember being really thrown off by him and his actions, it grabbed your attention 100% because you didn't know what he was doing or going to do. As for Bass I remember being amazed at how big she was, think she even dwarfed Chyna. Although the poor women's wrestling career was one long "she's actually a man" joke. Sad to hear they've both passed today.

I loved George when I was a kid. He was absurdly entertaining. The interview he gave to the LAW a couple years ago was very interesting.

I was sure this was about the Road Warrior.
Since it's Steele, who was much older, I'm somewhat relieved. He lived a good, long life, did THE Animal.

George The Animal Steele was pivotal in my fascination for pro wrestling as a kid. One of the true legends that will be sorely missed.

Shitty couple of days for wrestling deaths. They say they come in threes. Chavo/Steel/Koloff. I know some people will say Bass, but let's be honest. Her contributions to the wrestling world were so miniscule. (not that her dying isn't sad. Just saying those other three were in a completely different wrestling class than her)

Oh, no question about it. No disrespect to Nicole Bass but I always perceived her more as a freak show act than anything. Chavo Classic, George "The Animal" Steele and Ivan Koloff have left remarkable legacies behind them. And it's a real shame that Ivan Koloff wasn't inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame while he was alive.

Just learned about Koloff's passing. 2017 truly has sucked so far. A true pioneer in an era where heels were heels and the fans couldn't wait to boo them.
RIP.

Considering both Koloff and George Steele were in their 70s, I'll just say they had a helluva run.

sadly, it's always nice when you hear a wrestling death is in their 70's and not in their 40's.

another oneHe was 51. By the bio he didn't seem like the most lovable person in the world but dammit... is anyone in this business ever gonna die for natural causes at a reasonable old age? It's disheartening...

Fuck Johnny K9....His crew warring against the bacon brothers made Vancouver a shitty place to live for a couple of years.
