Hi John and Wai
Gary from Glasgow here. I don't know how it came across tonight pre taped but from someone who was there the crowd was hot, despite the mediocre show.
It was great to see the local hero Noam Dar of ICW fame debut and the New Day spot was hilarious. Despite what Braveheart would have you believe, we don't actually wear kilts and play bagpipes.
The most over act of the roster was Bayley. I don't know how much will be aired but during the woman's segment there was a 7 to 8 mginute period prior to the match with the crowd singing " Hey, Hey Bayley" ala the dirty dancing/DJ Otzi song which clearly rattled Charlotte. North American viewers probably will only see a short clip of this but I'm sure there will be footage of this on YouTube and it'll be a must watch .
Jericho, Owens, Enzo and Cass were very much over and Sheamus and Reigns bore the brunt of the heat tonight.
The build between Owens and Jericho is fascinating and the slow burn is so intriguing. Surely this culminates in a Mania match. Kudos to Jericho, he has went from a stale veteran jobbing to fandango, to a fresh reinvigorated must see act.
The crowd weren't impressed with the Lesnar Goldberg promos and it will be interesting to see how this goes down at Survivor Series with the "bizzaro" Crowd in the Six.
If WWE ever visits Glasgow for tv duty again ( Smackdown tomorrow exempt) I hope it learns from a simple mistake they made with the live crowd. Despite being hailed for its diversity, Glasgow is very much a religiously divided city between
Protestants and Irish Catholics. Glaswegians and most Scots are very passionate about football ( soccer) and this religious rivalry is played out on the football field between the two biggest football teams in Scotland, Glasgow Rangers and Glasgow Celtic, with Rangers representing the Protestant half and Celtic the Catholic half of the city. This rivalry is extremely heated and has recently been a point in the agenda in the Scottish parliament, as on match day, there is a spike in violence and crime and disarray in the streets . WWE tonight showed a lingering close up on the tron of Celtic park which resulted in half the crowd cheering and half the crowd booing and subsequent unsavoury scenes. They should take heed of this in the future. This isn't the USA where franchise and money are king, this rivalry has been going strong, four times a year for the last 130 years in front of crowds of 70,000 people and millions on television.
PS Reigns is hated universally, the crowd didn't have a minute for the guy. Keep up the good work guys, go bluejays go.
