Something I didn't think of when I posted my initial response to this thread: what if WWE are actively attempting to create an environment where you don't want to watch their Tv? Or at least choose between that and the network?
By creating more shows just for the network and ensuring that (in terms of titles and spectacle matches) they're more important than the TV product, theyre creating a situation which is slowly making the network more essential to current storylines and, in terms of time investment required, more friendly to the fan than watching Raw and Smackdown on a weekly basis.
If I remember correctly their initial plan for the network was to have their own stand alone channel from which they could control and gain the entire revenue stream. The move to a digital only platform has made that goal more difficult to achieve due to the number of people that still rely entirely on cable tv, but not impossible... This could well be a new strategy on their part, a more long term plan to slowly but surely shift their to viewers over to just the network.

Not sure why it's dumb to generate content for a 24 hour channel.
Live shows are the most viewed on the network, so to keep subscribers, you need live shows.

Yeah I'm in the too many camp, though King of the Ring and survivor series could easily now be inter-show competitions, King of the ring brackets would be SD and RAW split until the finale, I think that will rock, as for Survivor Series you can bring back the classic 5 man teams to represent SD and RAW, with the winner maybe getting a pick or something? I don't think they need to do a "new draft" in the sense of we're picking from RAW/Smackdown rosters, this can be dealt with by just plain trades, Draft is for brining up people from the NXT roster etc.

There's no reason they can't have 16 guys from Raw and 16 from Smackdown and a divisional title match for each before going into the final.... They could make this really impressive if they wanted to.
