A general (but unofficial... I'm not that important) thread for random pre-Summerslam thoughts/conversations/arguments/predictions/etc.
So...
I've never been a regular viewer during a "draft era" before. Can somebody tell me if this should bother me?
The following draft picks are on the announced Summerslam card: #24 Dolph Ziggler, #28 Cesaro, #30 Sheamus and #45 Apollo Crews
The following draft picks are NOT on the announced Summerslam card: #11 Sami Zayn, #12 Bray Wyatt, #19 Baron Corbin and #23 Big Show
It's pretty much one month after the draft... does the order even matter any more? Because not that long ago it was the subject of every promo.
(Note: I limited this list to male singles competitors to try to preserve the "apples to apples" discussion.)

You're not supposed to remember all those details on the draft. They're making it up as they go along... er telling stories.

It's all a nonsense. My 4 year old son can think more logically than the clown-shoed fuckwits that supposedly create this stuff.
Look at the thought that goes in to the G1 finals. Other companies can think long term, but WWE is like an insane pinball machine filled with shit.
I'll stick with it, we always do, don't we.

Yeah, I know that we're the part of the audience that is along for the ride and pretty much always will be. But to quote a great man: "we in the WWF think that you - the audience - are, quite frankly, tired of having your intelligence insulted."
Ignoring what a mess of commas and clauses than sentence is when you see it written down, I wish Vince would take his own advice. I hear plenty of stories about Vince adjusting details that really made a match/angle/character click, but it seems like his eye for detail is gone.
Anyway, on with the Summerslam thoughts...

Yes indeed!
It looks like a decent show actually. In-ring looks fairly solid, a new champ will be crowned etc. Quite looking forward to it all in all.

My picks:
Brock Lesnar d. Randy Orton: I can see it going the other way if Orton is in line of a huge run, but I think Brock's next loss is one of the few "special" things that WWE still has in their pocket. Orton doesn't need it.
Finn Balor d. Seth Rollins: Why build up the Demon King and have him lose his first match?
Dolph Ziggler d. Dean Ambrose: This is the pick I'd be least likely to put money on, but I just can't see two babyface champions happening right now. Ziggler wins and somehow goes full heel in the process.
John Cena d. AJ Styles: Cena evens the one-on-one score.
Rusev d. Roman Reigns: More accurately, Rusev leaves with the belt, though maybe Reigns is the official winner. Otherwise, I have no idea why Reigns went over clean on Monday (or why the match happened in the first place).
Sasha Banks d. Charlotte: Welcome to the next Orton/Cena feud. Sasha wins this round so both can go do other things for a bit and help build the women's division.
Gallows and Anderson d. The New Day: While we're busy building divisions...
Enzo and Cass d. Jericho and Owens: This is Jericho's job these days. Put over a team, then put over his partner. Can't wait for Owens vs. Jericho soon.
The Miz d. Apollo Crews: Miz wins this one, but Crews gets the belt as early as next Tuesday on Smackdown.
Sheamus d. Cesaro: The heel always starts up 1-0 in these things, right? Plus, the whole scenario gets even dumber if Cesaro beats him for the third time in a row.
Carmella, Becky Lynch and Naomi vs. Natalya, Eva Marie and Alexa Bliss: Heels win. Eva Marie does nothing to help but gets the fall.

I think the Zigger heel turn is coming, but not for a few weeks.
I like Lesnar, Balor, Ambrose, Cena, Rusev, Banks, New Day (Big E returns), Miz, Sheamus and the heel girls to win.

Brock ain't jobbing to anyone until Mania.
Cena is taking a few months off for his Fox show, AJ gonna be the next heel to face the champ.
Ambrose gonna retain, because Ziggler a walking L.
Some Lana fuckery helps Rusev retains, Reigns leaves him laying.
GoldBo$$ wins.
New Day over Good Brothers
Jeri-KO over Enzo and Cass and are the ones to take the belts away from New Day.
Miz continues his never-ending IC title run.
Cesaro wins.
Nobody wins in 6 women fustercluck

Hopefully Jericho/Owens verses Enzo/Cass open the card. That would be a good way to start off the show. Just as long as Enzo doesn't have to do any offense. His offense is putrid.
No way I am doing all 6 hours. Not a chance.

I agree it looks like a good show but it's way too long. 6 hours is just too much, especially when you look at the other shows happening that weekend as well. My predictions are Brock, Balor, AJ, Ambrose, Sasha, Rusev and The Club winning. The rest I'm not that fussed about especially Cesaro/Sheamus which I groaned hearing it was best of 7 and that is extra sad as I usually love anything Cesaro does.

I'll only watch the main show, and will skip parts. If it takes me longer than 2 hours to watch it, I'll be surprised. Depends what mood I'm in. Being in the UK, I'll watch it on the network Monday night when I get home from work.

Woke up this morning and came around with the rest of you that Styles probably beats Cena. But thinking of it from an "if I was actually putting money on it" perspective, I'm never picking against Cena in the rematch when he did the honors last time.

I have a few guests coming over that have already been warned that the show will likely run until at least 11:30 PM and reassured that they won't offend me if they leave early. Considering I've taken an unintended nap during the last four or five PPVs (including and especially Wrestlemania), I don't know that I'll be the best host by main event time anyway.
