More like "Transitional/Set-Up for the Finish/Overused & Abused" Joins the DDT, spinebusters and frogsplash. Powerbombs, don't forget powerbombs!

German suplexes especially, every "shooter" gimmick throws them as if it's a punch. That move was also hurt a bit by Benoit & Angle doing the multiple Germans, it looked good but never finished a match.

Harley Race used to finish matches with a suplex. Get used to it.

Key word there is used to. That was back at the time where a standard leg or elbow drop was a finisher.

Key word there is used to. That was back at the time where a standard leg or elbow drop was a finisher. I get what you're saying but it's not totally true. With Hogan's leg drop, it was only a finisher because he beat guys up beforehand. I think the biggest problem old-school fans have nowadays is that sometimes, even well into a match, a wrestler's finisher doesn't necessarily finish the match. But we also live in a time period where MMA exists in mainstream entertainment, so even non-MMA fans like myself are distinctly aware that fighters can take a lot of punishment and still keep fighting.

You could say that for everyone's finisher though. It's a finisher because when he hit it the guy didn't kick out. Hogan rarely won with anything else in his WWE or WCW runs (know he used the Axe Bomber in Japan). I think another problem is the Japanese style influence on a lot of the guys. Hiroshi Tanahashi is one of the best going today but the fact is his "finisher" the High Fly Flow is hit about 5 times in one match in one way or another and that goes for a ton of guys over there.

Yup, I totally agree. And this will divide opinion. I like the current style better than the old style because it's more realistic (ie. unpredictable), but there are probably just as many people who prefer the structure of wrestling matches the way it once was as compared to today.

Harley Race used to finish matches with a suplex. Get used to it. A headkick still wins fights. A suplex should be treated the same.

Worst part is, it's the performers who pick the names.
Can't blame creative on that one.

While I think Zack Sabre Jr. is one of the best going today he has a dumb finisher name. It is: Hurrah! Another Year, Surely This One Will Be Better Than the Last; The Inexorable March of Progress Will Lead Us All to Happiness.
It's just an Octopus hold as well. My biggest gripe is that the guy has typically tapped out before the announcer has finished saying the name.
