Hey guys not really sure what to make of tonight's episode. It had some decent matches but the open Fight Night portion of it really didn't catch on for me. With D-Von having to defend the title every week, calling someone out himself made for an interesting twist but it's a shame for the second week in a row Kaz and Daniels just provide speaking rolls as opposed to ring work.
I liked the video package of the Gut Check segments but hopefully it doesn't just come across like constant squash matches with random guys like WWE is doing with Ryback. Hopefully TNA is smart enough to never do any kind of Gut Check on a pay per view, the crowd could make that ugly real fast.
I don't know what you guys still think of RVD but it's glad to see he's still over as much and I'm genuinely looking forward to his title match with Bobby. Garrett will NEVER be over no matter what they try, it shouldn't be any surprise to anyone when he comes out for a promo and the crowd is chanting for someone else the entire time. Also, did anyone else catch what the crowd was chanting at him? I could've sworn it was "Fuck off Garrett"...
Overall, the last couple of weeks have had some great TV matches and good segments but this episode wasn't one of them. 3 out of 10, brother.

I enjoyed some things from this show but not the open fight night concept. Bringing in someone new to face a current talent is basically going to give us NXT quality matchups.
I really enjoyed the Dudleys match and different bits here and there.
However, there are certain people on TNA that make me cringe when they come on the screen and no one can do this more than Mr Anderson. I used to workout at the same gym as him in Woodbury, MN and he is as annoying in person as he comes across on TV. He is my least favorite promo in the business today.
I appreciate with the stagnant ratings that TNA is trying some new things but I don't see these changes as being any step in the right direction.
Subpar show 3 out of 10.

Hogan seemed befuddled in the intro segment. I did like the special graphics for the OFN premiere episode. Christopher Daniels use of his cell phone as a chicken shit heel way to avoid Angle bakcstage was pretty slick. While I did like Borash calling out Eric Bischoff, it blows my mind that the whole stip about him losing his name is completely forgotten. Sure that gimmick was also full-blown retard too, but at least stick to your plotline. Borash's criticism about drunken tweeting was epic. Silva did ok, but it still felt like a jobber match. I realize that they can't sign a guy every month. I'm not sure if signing the first wrestler is the best move... It would make more sense to build this gimmick up so it means something. I did enjoy the clip package highlighting Silva's story and Roode punking him out later on the show. I'll give this idea a "win" for now. Hogan makes the title challenge? Wasn't it supposed to be someone from the back "stepping up" as he put it? WHAT THE FUCK. This is Hogan just inserting himself into the show, just like in the sex tape. I noticed there are caps all over the pro-boards... I think I'm skipping out on this... I always get pissed off at the vultures who slow down at a car accident anyways. I loved the start of the final segment, mostly because of Flair and the Rolex watch. That's some old school stuff there. Then we HAD to get Garett and a shitty finish to the final segment. Overall, I did enjoy the episode. There was indeed plenty of filler and nonsensical garbage surrounding the title challenge. Hardy/Anderson made little sense. Whatever, they didn't completely fuck this up. They probably will in time, because TNA'ing good ideas matters.

The OPEN FIGHT NIGHT deal/thing was a good idea in hindsight, but it wasn't executed as well as it could have been. The Devon/Ray match was fine. Not interested in it really. The whole fight night thing really was messed up. Really made the MCMG look like geeks. Why give the title match to Anderson and Hardy? I hate Anderson even more after tonight. The RVD/Roode video was great. The womens match was fine. Brooke is leagues better than VelVel. The ending segment was fun thanks to flair. Flair makes everything enjoyable. I felt bad for Eazy E as he was being bullied and harassed and embarrassed by his own son. I feel no sympathy for Garrett but I do for Eric. Is that how its supposed to be? Overall an average show. another impact has come and gone with absolutely no consequence. 6/10. There was more important things occurring today like REY MYSTERIOS SUSPENSION. If this were WCW, he'd be suspended with pay. have a great night guys.

Tonight's Open Fight Night show was a good start but very shaky. Christopher Daniels' promo on the tag division contenders was very cool however how did EY get that wife swapping joke in on Hogan for television? They really don't edit backstage promos. Hogan's opening promo was very heelish telling all the champs they wouldn't even know who their opponents until they were in the ring. Not a fair move by babyface GM. They kind of ruined the whole Eric Bischoff banishment by having a goodbye party for him at the end. Ric Flair probably re-gifted the rolex watch from the Hall of Fame show. The ending was funny and honestly not the worst thing they did with shit. I still remember Angle dropping horse manure on Jeff and Karen Jarrett during a coronation. I hope to see more jobbers try to make it in TNA with these OFN shows but question is will more WWE rejects pop in? The whole cast of Tough Enough minus Cameron would be available for this wouldn't they?

I gotta say either Impact was really good tonight, or drinking adds about 3 points to the usual rating.
I didn't hate anything tonight! Well, except for Garrett being on my TV. I could do without him.
I really liked open fight night, and the video package featuring that Avila kid from OVW. I really wasnt sure what to expect with Gut Check, I kinda though it'd be a Ryback situation, a jobber match but maybe with a quick promo beforehand.
I actually enjoyed Hogan tonight up until his logic for picking his final team. He said those 2 are un-cohesive, so I'll pick them. Had he referenced the fact that Joe and Magnus were a product of the wild card tag tourney I would've been fine with it.
I really can't think of anything else that was unlikeable on this episode. I really enjoyed it. If a normal Impact episode is a 6/10, I gotta give this a 7.5-8.
I'm looking forward to the House Show in Kent, WA tomorrow (which I have to drive to from Vancouver) hopefully that'll be good, I don't really know what to expect. I just saw the card, no Garrett, but I will be subject to a match between Morgan and Crimson.

I gotta say either Impact was really good tonight, or drinking adds about 3 points to the usual rating. Drinking/smoking ALWAYS makes wrasslin' better. After a case of cold ones, even the KJatie Vick angle starts to make sense...Almost.
