UFC needs to add a stage and ramp like WWE / Strikeforce does, having the fighters walk out on the ground floor with intoxicated fans reaching over within arms reach is something that is incredibly risky for people who actually invest money in these fighters. I'm no saying it looks any better but it's definitely safer for the product.

This thought did hit me during Griggs' entrance last night. He was waving and high fiving all over the place.

That would be brutal. Entrances are insignificant in MMA. I could care less about them. Also, that would take away 5,000-8,000 seats away. Strikeforce can do this cause they can't sell out arenas. I would be livid if UFC ever did this.

They tried the ramp (and pyro) thing years ago, doubt they go back. They like using the old boxing style entrances where the fighters are "flooded" with fans.
I do see some safety concerns, though, including HAT THIEVES!!!
Maybe make the entrance way a bit wider?

What are you worried about? Fans attacking fighters? Considering there are multiple instances of hats being yanked off heads of fighters during their walkouts from "intoxicated fans reaching over within arms reach", yes, it is a legit issue. There has never been a case of a drunk fan doing anything to attack or harm a fighter, so of the two scenarios, the one which has actually happened is more of a problem. (edit) Obviously something like a Sonnen in Brazil scenario would be different, but that is an anomaly which Zuffa would have addressed appropriately.

Im not worried about anything, dude. Hat thieves only want the hats. They don't want to hurt the fighters. I dont even remember the last time a UFC fighter had their hat stolen. The last ones I remember were the Vancouver event where some dude got 2, maybe 3. This is not an issue.

Nothing has happened yet but when I place my bets on fighter to win a fight and on his way to the octagon he gets a beer bottle or something smashed over his head by some dumbass, I'm going to be pissed! It's only a matter of time till something like this happens. It's irresponsible.
Maybe by making the entrance a little wider would help a lot and look better on paper, They would be saving money on losses of "seats" compared to the amount of seats that would be lost with a stage and pyro setup. It's a start if anything.

I figured by putting HAT THIEVES!!! in caps and adding multiple exclamation points to it, the sarcasm would have been noted but it clearly went over your head. I tried to have some fun with it my next reply, but it may have just confused you further into thinking I was serious. It's a start if anything. If a fan wants to throw something at a fighter, they will do it regardless of how big or small the entrance way is. Never underestimate the motivation a drunk moron. Thankfully giving actual bottles to fans are banned at a lot of venues, at least in the US. Still plenty of other things idiots could throw.

Most fighters come out to the Octagon in bare feet, so whats going to stop someone from breaking a bottle or something glass related on the ground? I another major risk to the fighters that is not being taken into consideration. It sounds kinda dumb to be discussing this topic but something like this is going to happen one day and for those retards that are thinking "oh but they've banned glass bottles in most arena in the US. Well what about when the UFC goes to the Germany or Poland? Those Drunks in Ireland are maniacs around beer and defiantly pose a risk. Attachments:

The UFC has stated on numerous occasions that the reason they got rid of the ramp is simply cost reasons.
Obviously bring in the ramp and the screen and the pyro costs money, and without the ramp they can put more seats on the floor which obviously means more ticket revenue.
I love the ramp though and wish they would bring it back. I love ramp entrances.

The ramp and the screen and the pyro costs allot of money but the UFC is the fastest growing sport in the world they have the money. I loved the old pride entrances they kicked ass. Mayhem's entrances where awesome i love the creativity and the thought the fighters put into them. They make the show that much more entertaining. I could see why they cant do it on smaller show's on Kansas and North Carolina. But on big show's like The Soccer staidium in Brazil or Sky Dome in toronto they have the room. You lose 1000 seats but you already have 100,000 fans anyway.
