It was a defect in the early versions of the game, but was fixed later. I went through two copies before getting one that worked. While it never failed, I still saved everything to my memory card just in case. Can't lose all the CAWs, after all. No wrestling game has topped No Mercy IMO. I must've been really lucky because I have a launch day copy and I never experienced the dreaded glitch. It was something I lived in fear of every day though.

I used to buy every WWF/E game since the first Smackdown up until Smackdown vs RAW 2006. I gave up on the franchise because it has become utter crap. I went and bought 2010 for PS3, but this is where I'm "off the ship" for good. MP3 entrance music was the "be all/end all" for me and 2010 lacked on a few things.
I've heard a lot about 2011 and 2012 and this nickle and dime shit job they're doing. Not to mention, a WWE game doesn't need to be "yearly". If it isn't officially "a sport", why are the games marketed like a sports game?

Warzone and Attitude are two of my favorite wrestling games Yea warzone had its moments! i liked how doing a finisher required a combo of buttons, But I have to give no.1 spot to No Mercy, 4way falls count anywhere matches that would go on for an hour were just epic!

RAW 2 and Warzone/Attitude? What the?
RAW 2 played horrible and in Warzone, you had to press 80 buttons to do a body slam.
The AKI games (No Mercy & WrestleMania 2000) were the best, followed by Here Comes The Pain & Shut Your Mouth (Yes, they named a game Shut Your Mouth). Although, VPW 2, VPW 64, and Revenge all use the same engine and are better than the WWF games.
THQ claimed WWE 12 would be different, but really, it's just the same as any Smackdown vs RAW. Sadly, I see YUKES still making WWE games after THQ goes under.

I hate WWE 12 i had it for a week and sold it.
My favorite is by far WWF No mercy N64, WWF Wrestlemania 2000 actually they planned WWF Backlash but that game was canceled.
I also loved WCW vs. NWO Revenge.
If they did WWF no mercy N64 with todays graphics would be the best wrestlinggame ever!
Todays wrestlinggames there are to much punching and kicking it should be wrestling.
Anyone heard that THQ are in serious financial problem?
If you are interested there is a game build with the old THQ engine the games is free and there is a career and a management version.

Well I did say that Raw 2 wasn't my favourite because of the gameplay. I just loved the custom entrance music feature. It was the first wrestling game to allow this and I had so much fun with it.

VPW 2, VPW 64, and Revenge all use the same engine and are better than the WWF games. VPW 2 and VPW 64 also have a huge roster + MMA fighters, you even have the option of switching to MMA rules in VPW 2 Other games that deserve a mention: Superfire Pro Wrestling X Premium, Burning Pro wrestling and AJPW: King's Soul. ...as for WWE games, I don't think that THQ have made a better game since HCTP, I was also a huge fan of Wrestlefest in the arcades.

No Mercy is still the best wrestling game I've ever played. I haven't checked out the modulator yet, it looks great but some of the updated moves don't look very good in the frame rate department. Not feeling the last WWE game, I guess I'll wait for WWE '13 for now. WWE No Mercy and the rest of the Nintendo 64 wrestling games from THQ were by far the best ever. The New Japan Pro Wrestling games, e.g. NJPW4 that released in Japan on the SEGA Dreamcast was also PHENOMENAL if anyone ever gets a chance to play that one. The new WWE '12 is also pretty solid can't complain.

Toukon Retsuden 3 is better than 4 IMO. 4 is very robotic. If you are interested there is a game build with the old THQ engine the games is free and there is a career and a management version. Link to TWC 4http://download.cnet.com/The-Wrestling-Channel-4-Fight/3000-2095_4-75544682.html This doesn't use the AKI engine. It's made by MDickie, his games are atrocious and his books are worse. Other games that deserve a mention: Superfire Pro Wrestling X Premium, Burning Pro wrestling and AJPW: King's Soul. ...as for WWE games, I don't think that THQ have made a better game since HCTP, I was also a huge fan of Wrestlefest in the arcades. If you're going to mention King's Soul then you have to talk about King of Colosseum Green/Red and KOC II. Used the same engine and featured a bunch of promotions as well as MMA matches.

Andrew sorry.. I meant that in the menu somewhere in TWC4 they say that they are inspired by the No mercy THQ game, not engine.

Ah. There's another game coming out, Pro Wrestling X (prowrestlingx.com) that was inspired by AKI.
