His spots were a spectacle to enjoy. I always looked forward to his matches.

A glorified spot monkey, but that's not a bad thing - he did what was needed and did it well in that regard; anything else I had no interest in him at all

I hated when he was on the screen, I thought he sucked.
He was the bosses' son who wanted high spot moments. That's all I saw.

Thought he was great, took some insane bumps. Its not like he was ever pushed as a real credible contender with. Internet fans always seem to get confused the whole character of a guy who everyone knows isnt credible but gets pushed anyway and dont realize that this happens because it draws heel heat.

I respect him, but I didn't like him when he was wrestling. I didn't like all the stunts he did to put himself over, it annoyed me because he wasn't a traditional wrestler and wore goofy track pants and a baseball jersey.

Shane was a glorified stunt man people want to call Mick Foley that but that's what Shane was. If he would have done matches with like Eric Bishoff and Vince thats fine. But against a real WWE superstar come on the guy's like 5'10 190 soaking wet with boots on. He took stupid bumps for what reason to enhance his career. ? Where is he now anyways ??

He clearly had some natural athleticism and could have been a good (not great) wrestler if he wanted to. I mean the guy could do a nice SSP....that takes talent.
That said, he just played the role of a spot monkey and that was fine too. Better that than another Garett Bischoff scenario where he's shoved down our throats as some big star in the making and the savior of the industry.

Garrett Bischoff, take notes, this is how to get an over-privileged son-of-a-promoter over. Consistently put your body on the line in mid-card matches.
I won't lie, i loved him at the time, loved his spots, thought he was a cool guy. He make me like Big Show more, even though he was a main event jobber. I even bought his black baseball jersey! Looking back, I mostly see him as a guy that spent too long in the spotlight; burying Kane & Randy Orton years apart. That said, he was booked to perfection, and in such a crazy time period of wrestling, i could totally overlook it. Job well done!
Also, massive respect for him for being sick of Vince, talentless Steph & Big Nose's shit and going into the business world to make a name for himself. Takes big balls of steel. I bet Vince was ruing he didn't listen to Shane, who wanted to incorporate/buy MMA before it's popularity exploded.

It says alot about his character having the guts to separate himself from his lunatic family.

Any asshole can get knocked off of a high place or get thrown through glass. It takes no talent to steal the spotlight by going out ONCE in a Blue Moon and getting thrown off of, on to, or through every hard surface in the arena. It also helps when the biggest stars all have to sell for your horribly shitty and business-exposing offensive maneuvers and you get to defeat most of them.
Shane sucks.
