Who is anyone to say "his music taste sucks?" One man's junk is another man's treasure. Im pretty sure 99% of the population would hate some of my favourite bands. A good point but making fun of music you hate is one of the more fun things in life. I also argue that if you include originality, songwriting, technical ability and talent you can make a valid determination on someone's musical tastes.

I don't like John's taste in music at all but sure it comes with the territory. His poddie his rules! That said i don't like Wai's either; Generally i find the LAW's music to be much more agreeable. I'm a rock/metal guy. Anything with a guitar. But sure what do i know theres gigs and gigs of wrestling music on my iPod!

Haha, I found this thread! Was listening to John & Ting talk about this. ;D
All I know, is that didn't John confess liking the Backstreet Boys? I don't know the group Black Keys, but liking BB alone is reprehensible! ;D

The Black Keys are good. ANYTHING is better than Pumped Up Kicks.

The Black Keys are absolutely fantastic, though I do understand the backlash amongst those who disagree. The two bigger radio hits they've had over the past few years aren't something that'd have necessarily made me dig much deeper into their rather large catalog...these two fellas made a very conscious decision to stop being critically acclaimed indie darlings and to start being famous, and you can very much hear that in those two songs. The two most recent albums remain quite good despite that fact, but you certainly wouldn't have heard "Tighten Up" or "Lonely Boy" on any of their earlier stuff - it'd have been painfully out of place.
I'm not gonna defend Aqua, though -- John's enjoyment of them has always puzzled me a little bit.

what do you expect from a guy who doesn´t know that Rush is Canadas finest and most important Band?

The Black Keys are good. ANYTHING is better than Pumped Up Kicks. X2! Almost anything. That Aqua that John marked out to and played was like nails on a chalkboard. That being said, I really enjoy all of the podcasts that John and Wai do and I respect that they can play whatever they want to. I have a choice whether or not to listen.

Forgetting the social commentary of Barbie World, this is probably Aqua's best song, Turn Back Time.
And from a great film, Sliding Doors.

Hang on, he likes The Black Keys and he put on Midnight City by M83 & you say he has bad taste in music? Uhmmmm, okay
Music taste is subjective anyways, unless it's Nu-Metal or Nickleback obviously
PS: Aqua do have a couple of great songs, believe it or not, preparing people looking at me strange right now!

I have to say that the creation of this thread is really fucking mean. Like most of us came at it pretty level-headed but if someone made a thread criticising something about me that I have no real control over (ie musical taste) I'd be pissed. Sorry John, you rock.

I'm thinking that John is probably just not really a music guy in general... I remember one Review he was making fun of the wwe's decision to use Ac/Dc for whatever Wrestlemania they had used it for... He made a comment about them not being relevant, little does John know that Ac/Dc's last album "black ice" debuted at #1 in 29 countries and the tour that followed was the 3rd highest grossing tour of all time. We should be so lucky to hear an awesome band like that as the soundtrack to a wrestling event as opposed to the crap nu-metal/alternative rock and pop top 40 shit we usually have crammed down our throats. How badass would it be to see ac/dc play somebody out at Wrestlemania?
