According to reports, WWE profits are way down this year and we're seeing a lot of cuts.
No more pyro and the cancellation of a number of Network programs. Talking Smack, Edge and Christian, Unfiltered and a few other shows have been dropped. The UK show has also been put on the back burner.
In reality, they should cut talent. 205 Live is a disaster and there are people who have been employed for far too long that mean nothing (Alicia Fox, Dolph Ziggler, Darren Young, Ascension, etc)
That's part of the reason why I cancelled the Network earlier today, there's nothing left to watch. The PPVs are mostly skippable (Cena/Nak on free TV!) and I've watched all the old school stuff I want to. NXT is easily found elsewhere and that's really the only original programming that I might miss.
Thoughts?

Bo Dallas, Curt Hawkins, R-Truth, Alicia Fox, Kane, Ascention, and Darren Young can all get the ax. (yeah, yeah, it sucks they lose their job. Tough)
the puro going away isn't a big deal. Doesn't affect the product in any way. But as deezy said, putting out a better product is the first step to turning the product around. And they should probably get on that if they want to get any type of significant increase in their next tv deal.

They cut the Pyro because their set and ramp are all LED.

Pyro isn't a big deal. Most of their big entrances now doesn't need it. I agree that you could cut the roster down a bunch to save some money, maybe not pay you're Universal champ who is barely there several million a year could help. I get cancelling some of those network shows as that can add costs but Unfiltered. That's just a camera guy, Renee and a wrestler isn't it? What cost is there? But I'm not one to talk about the network as I've cancelled my subscription prior to my free trail ending twice. There's just nothing on there that interests me.

I definitely see a roster cull soon, however they should go back to doing 1 special a month involving both brands instead of 2 a month.
It would certainly help cut down costs as I believe that it isn't cheap to put on a PPV after you've paid for the Arena, technical equipment... etc unless they make it up with ticket and merchandise sales

I think doing the whole UK thing and freaking out over the ITV deal was a huge overreaction. I'm sure that special wasn't cheap, and they're paying all these UK guys to sit around and wrestle for other promotions. Just a really stupid money wasting move on their part.

The two pay-per-views a month was a horrible idea. They should have all been shared shows like the big 4 are.

I can do without shows like Ride Along or 205. Problem is, for one show they cancel they're gonna put out a new one which is basically the same stuff. The problem is not the show per se but the damn WWE style they use for eferything. The Cruiserweight Tourney was great because it was original and looked nothing like a WWE product. 205, on the other hand, is just Superstars with another (stupid) name.

If Battleground showed us anything it's that they should cut down on supercards. I would be fine if they went back to how they did it during the first brand split, alternate months and keep the big 4 as mixed shows.

Ask Dwyane to do them a favor and pop the territory again.
Put him up against his fellow uce and they do Cena/Rock numbers.

I can't picture 9 year old me being told one day I'll be able to watch all the wrestling I want. Oversaturation is the key problem IMO. When I was a kid, at least here in Italy, we only had a hour a week of WWF which was usually 3 or 4 squash matches and a "main event" between 2 midcarders. No Hogan, no Savage, no Warrior outside of highlight packages yet I couldn't wait to watch the show. You wanted more. Hogan then did the big 4 and it was like going to a Rocky Horror Picture Show showing. You knew what to expect but you also knew you'd only get to see it a total number of times a year.
Kinda like Brock but with a bitchier wife.

I think the huge change in direction on Smackdown was due to a measurable number of people that cancelled the network following Battleground. Myself included, if the Network Specials are going to suck, I'd rather give NJPW my $10 a month.
If WWE wants to grow, they need to invest in quality wrestling and well thought out storylines that give the viewer a reason to care.

Since they cannot have Broken Matt I suggest they create their own original idea and go with Disgruntled Dolph.

Dolph better off telling his bad dad jokes and dressing like a hack 80s comedian. More interesting than this HBKlone he's been trying forever.
