The WWE has announced a new Event for July 9th in Dallas -Great Balls of Fire. Brock Lesnar will be defending his title for the first time since Wrestlemania33. WTH??? That's 98 days!
Whatever happened to the title must be defended every 30 days or the title is forfeit. Naomi was stripped of the Smackdown Women's Title in February (the 21st) because of an injury, but she was back April 2nd which is only 40 days. 10 days over the limit vs 2 full months plus?
Wrestling fans are not always the most logical beings. We often have to suspend belief to enjoy storylines. Those of us who follow the sport/entertainment by listening to the LAW family of shows and its' excellent staff (even Braden), know a lot more about the behind the scenes aspect than the casual fan who shows up for Wrestlemania, but even we have our limits.
WE WANT CONSISTENCY.
The mismanagement of story lines drives me nuts. Bad enough they have messed up the whole brand split and subsequent shake up with the ORTON/WYATT and OWENS/JERICHO matches, but they have put the number one contender spot on a guy who was jobbing just the week before. WTH??? I have nothing against Jinder Mahal, but why not let him win a match or two before elevating him to number one contender? SO DUMB.
But, at least there is a contender for Orton's title. Lesnar currently has no challenger. WHY? He has no challenger because he has been AWOL since Wrestlemania33. His advocate Paul Heyman has made no appearances since the RAW after Wrestlemania.
No storylines developed.
No title defences.
NOT A SINGLE APPEARANCE BY THE CHAMPION.
I get it, I really do. The big boy needs his time away. Keep him off the air so that his appearances become "EVENTS'. That's fine. The title however, shouldn't have time off. The title is the real star.
THE CHAMPIONSHIP.
The Stanley Cup, the Super Bowl, the NBA Championship, The WWE Title, THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP. They don't belong to the man or the team. They belong to the fans. The team or the man might win it on the competitive field, but the ones who really cherish it are in the seats surrounding it or watching at home. The fans pay their hard earned money and they invest their time and energy in supporting the athletes FOR YEARS (even decades) not just on the night the champion is crowned. They buy swag. They watch on TV to keep ratings high and generate income for the league or promotion. They want the championship front and center and they want it to be the focal point of the story/season. Keeping the championship on a guy who is a part-timer robs them of that. It dwindles the interest and hurts the product. It isn't consistent with what the fans want.

I'm with you, I said something similar months ago when the rumour started that Brock/Goldberg was going to be for the title. I'm not a fan of this in the first place but what I find makes this situation worse is that this title isn't even a year old. So far that title has had one true reign in Kevin Owens. While the announcers are good at reminding us Balor was the first champion he was injured in the match and now it's on a guy who is barely around. There could be a easy solution as well if brands traded off PPVs each month instead of both having one in the same month, if you had a Raw PPV ever 2 months you could put Brock on those shows and it wouldn't be so glaring that he's not there. Any way I agree that if we were given some kind of explanation it wouldn't be that bad but for viewers it comes off as if Brock just vanishes for months. We've been having a similar conversation in another thread as well.

I was going to talk about Naomi but you said it. I don't think being consistent and logic is THAT complicated.

Jesus Christ, are we in a time loop?
Feel like we've had these same rants when Lesnar won the title last time.

Allow me to address the "The Stanley Cup, the Super Bowl, the NBA Championship, The WWE Title, THE UNIVERSAL CHAMPIONSHIP. They don't belong to the man or the team. They belong to the fans."
No they don't, living vicariously through others accomplishments isn't a right, nor is it an entitlement. That's a fallacy.
Sports like all other forms of entertainment offer nothing more than content, if you don't like it. Don't get it. Nobody forces fans to sit through their stuff.
If you didn't want to get the shits, you don't go to the shitty restaurant. And if you keep on doing it because you think they owe you a meal for supporting them. Then any further problems is on you.
Don't like it, don't watch.....that simple.
Get a life and get over yourself.....go accomplish some shit by yourself.

All sports are a diversion for the masses. Without the masses there is no sport. Teams fold without enough fan support as do leagues. It's the fans' money that keep the teams running and thus pay the salaries of everyone involved. And I have a life thanks!

Simple supply and demand.
Teams leave when there's no more demand.
Fan support isn't even a fraction of what sponsors pay.
Fans don't mean shit, you will peddle your wares wherever there is interest.

They didn't need to strip Naomi of her belt any more than they need Brock Lesnar to make an "APPEARANCE" on Raw so Brock can stand there, say nothing, and hop back and forth on the balls of his feet as Paul Heyman bloviates about how great "My client... Baaaarrrock Llllllessssnaaaarrr!" is.
The title is not "the real star", the title is a prop. You wanna argue that Brock should not be The Champion, fine. But it doesn't matter that the belt isn't on TV every week.
Hulk Hogan never defended the belt on Wrestling Challenge but I still watched it every week.
I personally think Brock Lesnar has outlived his usefulness and probably isn't worth the money they are paying him anymore. He has no passion for wrestling and it's obvious. Paul Heyman cuts the exact same promo every time they hype one of his matches. His matches are formulaic and boring.
And if you're looking for plot continuity and consistency from the WWE you are going to come away empty handed because they clearly don't give a shit about either of those things and if you have been watching the product for any length of time you should know this by now.

Oh thats easy Brock's a PART TIME wrestler so he can do Steroids and other illegal drugs and not get suspended, and time stops when he's not in the arena, so really since WM it's only been one day for him come on! What do you mean LOGIC! This... this is BRRRRRRROOOOOCCCKKK Part Time LESNAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! If you wanna blame somone for this though blame all out the WWE for hiring a guy and then GIVING him the belt to take off... Why did Payback suck? Possibly because the big title has NO ONE to content for it, and while they're trying really really hard to get Braun up there I don't see it the way they are building him up.

Payback didn't suck outside of that stupid house of horrors match.
He didn't do steroids, nobody does steroids anymore. Learn about supplements before attempting to make assumptions.
Also, USADA testing is spotty as fuck and PEDs can be anything according to USADA testing rules, which seem to be made up on the spot.
Brock Lesnar being champion wasn't the detriment that people thought it was a year ago....it's not the detriment that people think it is now.

At least when Lesnar as champ a couple of years ago they gave more reasons as to why the champion wasn't there for months on end. This year Lesnar showed up the night after winning the belt and then just vanished.

Brock Lesnar being champion wasn't the detriment that people thought it was a year ago....it's not the detriment that people think it is now. Tou're right it was an estrogen supressors that he took Letrozole and Hydroxy-clomiphene a drug used primarily to treat infertility in women... Thus HORMONES most likely in both cases, a Hormone used no doubt to try and pump him up so not steroids, just a steroid suplement. Certainly not approved, thus he cheated, i don't giv e a flying Futard about if it was steroids or not he took an illegal substance (by the sports standards) and skirted the issue by being "part time" and WWE ignored it basically because he makes them money. So you can climb off the "fact correcting" when in face the damn facts WERE accurate just not named "steroids" I'm sorry HORMONES that help produce muscles is that better for your sensibility? Lesnar is a hack, he was good now he just wrestles for money, and thats all well but please don't pretend he gives two shits about anyone but himself, and it certainly isn't making ME buy more tickets or the PPV for him. www.drugs.com/cdi/letrozole.htmlen.wikipedia.org/wiki/Clomifene

Lesnar always wrestled for money.
You don't have to be a fan to be great at it. Only marks think that way.
