I've often heard that the former WWF/E writer Chris Kreski should be credited with WWF's awesome in-ring product in the year 2000 with well thought out storylines and a more work heavy undercard compared to prior years. But this guy never gets a mention. Is his contribution overstated or does Vince want all the credit for the Attitude Era's most impressive year ? I know Vince has always had the final say so I'm just wondering what actual involvement he had with the product all those years ago.

I think he just got the bad luck of being sandwiched between Russo's reign as head writer and Steph's. Those 2 have a pretty bad reputation overall when it comes to their writing etc. One being famous for putting everything on a pole and the other getting the job because her dad runs the place. Personally I've never heard of the guy, I was a young teenager in 2000 so wasn't on the internet and I've never looked into the writers at the time. Only learnt of some writers/bookers from some shoot interviews and podcasts.

Lionized because he died, nobody outside of his family and people who worked with him even knew what he did. Online smarks only have speculation and having a name mentioned in passing.
Also creative team writers are not credited solely to stay out of the writers guilds.....Hence the reason why whenever there were writers strikes, they kept working.

And the other for riding on poles..."

Based on what I've heard, I think he's underrated and deserves more credit. I read that Stephanie and others mocked him for taking his job so seriously by planning out story lines so thoroughly and in advance. If he really did contribute as much to the 2000 era's quality as has been suggested, I definitely think he's an unsung hero.
I've been an 'on again, off again' wrestling fan since about 1991 and the height of my enthusiasm for WWF was definitely 2000-2001. Assuming he was a major creative architect for WWF in those years, I think it's a shame he's so forgotten. I'm happy to see this thread giving him some kudos.
