I have a bad feeling that Zayn is going to end up on the same trash heap as Breeze and Neville.
WWE throws the guy out there cold to attack Kevin Owens and then does a shitty job explaining why. The match against Stardust on Saturday was a crowd killer, and he got crickets again on RAW against Miz.
I want to like the guy and have enjoyed his work in NXT but there is literally no reason to care about him. We don't know anything about the guy other than he dances to the ring, wears goofy hats and hates Kevin Owens.
Give the guy a character, some backstory, a vignette, anything. His character right now appears to be "good wrestler". Shouldn't everyone on the roster be a good wrestler? It's such a waste of a guy with a ton of talent.
The whole call-up just smells of someone on the writing staff having no idea what to do with Owens for Mania and deciding just to do what NXT did. What is the plan for Zayn after Mania? Because right now his call-up has been a disaster.

For the most part, NXT call ups don't get handled correctly. Rusev got to cut promos, or at least Lana did. Not that he's main eventing mania, but he's somewhere. Same goes for Bray. We need promos and vignettes dammit!!!

You should care because he's a Canadian indie star. Other than that he has the same great talent that everyone else does, he's vanilla at the moment. Time will tell on Zayne.
Zayne working Owens at Mania is just giving the longest NXT storyline the ultimate platform.
In Zayne's defense, that match with Stardust was designed to be a crowd killer. Any match would have bombed, but giving it the long amount of time didn't help either. Once upon a time the divas used to have that slot between the two biggest matches on the card. Now its reserved for indie or NXT sensations.

He's ginger Bryan.
He didn't even have a character in NXT, just playing veteran wrestler who finally made it. AJ is playing that guy on the main roster.
Maybe his supposed fans should actually support him instead of looking for other shit to chant.
He doesn't get over, it's all on his fans. They fail every time they act like someone is the greatest thing since sliced bread when they are infront of fat neckbeards in bullet club shirts, but they never support them when they get to te big time.
Then they blame creative, because they had the audacity to think these so-called Indy darlings have a fan base already established.

Oh Deezy we both know smarks are too smart to pay for things they love and invest their admiration in. Why buy a PPV when you can stream it? I've heard arguments on this forum where people don't pay for Netflix, they just have someone else's password. Somehow, someway, the WWE keeps right on ticking with John Cena and Roman Reigns at the helm. HHH is even back in the ring to do business. I know the Internet loves that guy. Hearing LAW callers say he was superman... before it shifted to John Cena as superman. What the smarks really want is to go all against that grain like salmon swimming upstream because its cooler to do so. I still like Zak Ryder even though the Internet forgot about him 3 years ago. One day he'll be the veteran wrestler back on the main roster from Superstars.

I don't know how they managed to cool down KO so greatly over the past few months, and the Sami feud is barely treading water thus far with 2 weeks left until Mania.

He's a fantastic worker but they need to give him a character, John even pointed out on Review-a-Raw that they have a built in story with his US title challenge last year against Cena & the injury in that match. You could even pull up the NXT storyline of Owens ruining his dream of reigning as NXT champ and he wants to get revenge by taking his IC title.

Zayn is just the latest in the recurring "NXT problem" that WWE has. They are making main eventers in NXT and calling them up to be newcomers again. Just when it looked like Owens broke that mold, they shoved him back in it by not having any ideas beyond that fantastic program with Cena. In hindsight, he may as well have squashed Jack Swagger a few times to start his run rather than getting a clean win over the most protected guy in the company.
It's not the fans and it's not necessarily the creative (yet). If you want to read too much into a Zayn/Stardust match on what was essentially a house show, then be my guest. But I think it's only fair to wait for the Owens/Zayn program that will hopefully tear the house down - both in the ring and in crowd response.

NXT has something special going on and I'm sure the office knows that. They are going on tours, bringing in some more revenue, and most importantly they are getting more exposure. Now, they do not have a good track record lately when they get the call up to the main roster (especially the internet darlings) with the exception of the women and its no fault to the talent. They need to really clamp down and make a full commitment to these guys on the NXT level and get them established first before they rush them up to the main roster. Squeeze out everything they can out of them so that when they get called up it means something and EVERYONE will know who this is. That's why I am so glad they haven't called up Balor. Make him the biggest star on NXT so when he gets the call up, it will be special. It's one thing to be ready wrestling and work rate wise but it's another thing to be ready for the big time. Which brings me to Sami Zayn. Look, only time will tell whether he sinks or swims but right now I don't believe he's ready to make a impact or be a draw that the WWE needs. Us "smark mark" fans need to realize that what worked in ROH and even NXT is not always going to translate to the RAW audience. If I was a casual fan and decided to watch him for the first time, I see a guy who looks to be in a Ska band and does a lot of cool moves. This day in wrestling who doesn't do cool moves? They bring him up now and they have him go right back after Owens. This story line only appeals to the vast majority who follows the indys hardcore and understand the history between these 2 men. What does that accomplish for the younger audience, women, casual fans who tune in and not have a clue why these guys are always fighting? Where do you go afterwards? Is this feud going to elevate him to super stardom? Only time will tell, but if I was a betting man, he will be lost in the shuffle in a few months. We just need to realize that certain wrestlers can only go so far. Maybe I'm wrong....

Zayn knows how to get over so I think he'd be fine on the main roster. I've heard people call him small but he's gotta be at least 6'0" and it's a new age we're living in now anyway, where talent supersedes girth.
The bigger question is whether or not he'll be pushed, but I think even if he wasn't pushed he would eventually force a push through his connection with the audience, a la Daniel Bryan.

Crowds were supporting Daniel Bryan from jump street. The firing was the first in many flukes that got Bryan over as the man against the machine.
Zany is coming out to apathy.
And now it's because he didn't have vignettes and stuff....even though I keep hearing the IWC is now their biggest audience.
Proof that is a flat out lie.

I think Bischoff said in an interview that, "you can find any truth to support your argument, but the only real truth in business is money and this is business." I am probably paraphrasing or butchering the quote.

Watching NXT tonight.
I obviously knew that Zayn was going to be facing Nakamura on Mania weekend.
But still, when they announced it tonight on NXT tonight, I marked the fuck out.
