This is just a theory with no basis, but I had a thought concerning TNA and the long-term talent leaving/not re-signing. It has been stated previously that Dixie Carter has a very nice/kind personality. With most of TNA’s top stars leaving throughout last year, I wonder if in early 2014 that Dixie took them aside to discuss TNA's situation. Maybe she had an idea of the shape of TNA later in 2014.
For example, maybe she took A.J. Styles aside, advising him that she does not see TNA’s future as positive. That maybe he should find work in the independents now, before the rest of the TNA performers are also looking for work.

TNA is bleeding money, they are on life support with Spike having extended them till end of year so far, the talent you mention did not resign because the contract offers were pretty low from their point of view and they wanted more, A.J is making more money in Japan right now then he was at TNA, I can't blame him.
As for Dixie talking and being nice to talent, why would she put a nail in her coffin? If she can keep talent around to help proomote her brand and cut them after to rebuild her brand instead of "cutting them loose" I don't see it, it would be crappy business sense and it certainly would not be good wrestling promoter for sure!

AJ Styles has already spoken on-record about the circumstances behind his TNA departure.
It had nothing to do with Mama Bear Dixie telling AJ she wanted to see him spread his wings on the indies before everyone else jumped off a sinking ship.
If the demise of TNA ever becomes a Lifetime movie, perhaps that is how it will play out. But what you're theorizing doesn't jive with reality based on info available.

I for one am happy with a talent shifting. I love AJ Styles, but TNA was putting him in too many storylines when he can get over just being a babyface that puts on great matches. Bully Ray, MVP and Ethan, let those guys talk. Apple Jax will be back in the company even if for a short time.

Literally, she just couldn't offer them the money they thought they deserved to resign. Typically when people resign they're looking for more than the previous contract or at least keeping the same pay per appearance. Given TNA's dire straits in recent months and Spike not helping out on payroll like they have in the past with Angle & Sting, I would imagine TNA couldn't offer them what they wanted. If you notice, some of the lower card guys or those with less tenure have been resigned, while presumably high dollar contracts have not. It's akin to WWE in the mid-1990s where they couldn't afford to keep Nash, Hall, or Hart. WWE at the time was bleeding money, even asking staffers such as agents and Jim Ross to take less money than in their agreed upon contracts because WWE was in such a bad way.

It's just manipulation. I'm sure Dixie is a genuinely nice person, but she certainly uses her niceness as a business tool as well. She has often tried to foster loyalty by promoting the idea that TNA is more of a family than the WWE's locker room. I also don't believe that her kindness would extend to the point of being completely transparent with her subordinates.
Also, AJ has said (or at least implied) that the contract TNA offered him was less than his previous contract. Make no mistake about it, he left for more money, not because Dixie told him or even wanted him to leave.

TNA let go everybody who had "good contracts". Simple as that. I believe Bully Ray's contract just (or is about to) expire as well. That is why he was telling everybody that he was saying his goodbyes last week. Upcoming talent who might be gone soon includes Angle and maybe Hardy.

TNA lost AJ, Daniels, Kaz and Sabin. Didn't dent their ratings.
When Bully Ray leaves if he does, that's just more wrestling less talking.

Bully leaving will make TNA the butt of more jokes because he is part of the ongoing tag-team tournament and is supposed to be inducted into the HOF at BFG.
Impact now is pretty much like going to a house show: minimal storyline, cheap pops/heat, and more action than talking.

Even if they become a golden company that surpasses WWE, people will still remember and laugh about the Monday Night War they lost. Its a best of series, not a tag tournament. Let him go. If they're a house show level I don't care. Just give me wrestling. How often do we look at an entrance anyway? I skip it on DVD. Just put up a ring.

If anything, as John has discussed in his podcasts (to a valid point) Bully did make it very hard to NOT resign him, even on a short term basis to at least wrap up the storyline, that his presence would be noticed is not to be questioned really since he's part of pretty much the main "tag team" story line anyway, with one of the wolves being out of action with a broken leg the titles need to shift, He is going into the HOF, so giving them a "final run with the belts" would be meaningful as well.
Bully did what one wrestling instructor mentioned (I attended many seminars and such in my past as a photographer) Al Snow also mentioned it and Wayne Cryderman (who leanred from Al) preached, "If you make the fans want to see you get your butt kicked they will rebook you. By that it's a simple logic really, all they meant was that if you insinuate yourself into a storyline or make the promotoer "need" you, they will rebook you. Bully did just that.
I can't say the same for Angle, he is "Replaceable" right now, as was AJ, sure he had a storyline a story about his contract running out... It was true to life but fans didn't byte, didn't clamor to have him stay etc, so he was replaceable in the stories. Bully not so much, I'm not saying they couldn't just kill the whole thing off, but this isn't a small thing, they are really pushing the "Resurgence of the tag team" etc.
