They would seemingly have to move NXT; perhaps to Wednesday or maybe take Main Event's slot and move Main Event elsewhere.

NXT can be Friday, although I like the idea of NXT and TNA competing. Doesn't help TNA any.

While NXT was still on TV in Canada, I chose to watch NXT instead of TNA. That is, before Spike TV disappeared from my TV listings after I upgraded to the HD digital cable package. I would have needed to pay extra to include Spike again. (No thanks.) My only source of Spike-related sadness was missing the Don Rickles comedy roast.

Now, I guess to make matters more confusing, SyFy stated SmackDown to air on Thursday but WWE is saying Friday.

yeah, Meltzer said something about it maybe not moving now? ? I'm confused. Haven't heard anything official either way since then. Makes no sense to have Smackdown on Fridays. Thursday's is a way better night from the WWE's perspective.

There definitely seems to be back and forth by both sides. SyFy's lineup has changed a few times already, and WWE has yet to re-wrap their trucks.
Why not just compromise and move SD to Wednesdays??

lol Does SyFy have any issues with particular WWE writing staff? (Such as Spike TV vs Russo in TNA?)

I don't think so but I remember Bauer saying a few months back that wrestling always comes up in meetings with TV people and he had one with Sci-Fi where it came up and they didnt seem too stoked on having wrestling on the network at all.

My question was more rhetorical / tongue-in-cheek in nature, but that is an interesting item to know. If I was involved with decision-making at SyFy and I wanted to squeeze the most out of WWE programming, I'd demand SmackDown to air live like Raw.

If Syfy wanted Smackdown to air live on a regular basis, I'd imagine they'd have to adjust the terms of their contract with WWE and raise their rights fees.
