What's good, brothers & sisters! If you listened to The LAW tonight (or were on the internets anytime over the past 2 hours), I'm sure you've heard of the TMZ report that Spike TV is dropping "Impact Wrestling" from their programming schedule. If this word is true, it sucks for the guys in TNA & the industry as a whole. Regardless of what you thought about TNA, they constantly brought in a million-plus fans, employed on & off-screen talent, and were bold enough to do things that Vince & "Team Titan" still are scared off. The sad thing is that there's no definitive company to fill that void. ROH & AAA-America are niche products at best, and we have no clue what Jarrett is up to. Like it or not, the Fed may have succeeded in doing something that they criticized Eric Bischoff for trying to do...They killed the competition & in some ways took a part of the business with them. That being said (and as nice a person as Dixie seems to be)...It's TNA's own damn fault. BTW, y'all know I put in an application a year ago & heard nothing. I'm no Russo...But I would've had that show on point. But I digress. We will miss you TNA. You did better than most expected. You also gave us some awesome moments, and a really cool podcast that was sprung from your loins (Review-An-Impact will live at least until October...Lol!). Vaya Con Dios. -- Nate "The Artist Formerly Known As TNAte" Milton #TeamHexagon #StylesDanielsAndJoe #ThatManCalledSting #DiversityWorks P.S. - The only silver-lining in this is if TNA was cancelled to bring in GFW. Anything else is bad news for the bidness, IMO.

I don't think WWE had anything to do with killing TNA. TNA killed themselves.

I don't think WWE had anything to do with killing TNA. TNA killed themselves. Technically Viacom killed TNA (if this is in fact their death). My allusion to the WWE was in reference to how "principled" Vince McMahon has always came across when saying Bischoff did business the wrong way, when in fact his company acted pretty shady in some instances in regards to TNA. But you're getting caught up in the minutiae, Brother. We're here to talk about TNA's past, the great memories, and their future (and by extension the future of the industry). Let the wake begin!

Hmmm. Spike drops TNA just a few days after word leaks out that Russo (who Spike does not like) is working for TNA. That would be amazing if Russo was an important factor in Spike's decision. As far as TNA goes without any tv, I do not see how they can survive.
I was under the impression that Spike actually wanted wrestling to go with MMA. We shall see whether that dropping of TNA mean that another promotion ends up on Spike.

One of my favorite moments in TNA history....when Don West finally had enough of Tenay's shit.

What we know is that Spike had all of the leverage in this negotiation. So, they either low-balled TNA with their offer or they didn’t offer TNA a deal at all, which would mean they’re either abandoning wrestling (which I can’t imagine) or they’ve got another wrestling company in mind to work with, or they just thought TNA would accept whatever was offered to them no matter how small and it blew up in their face.
From TNA’s perspective, let’s hope they have a contingency plan. There are a lot of other networks out there but if it were me I’d just concentrate on their European markets for the time being; try to expand overseas and maybe move all operations overseas too. TNA have always been popular abroad and by moving their business to Europe it would offer something that no other North American wrestling organization could match - a full time European schedule. But we’ll see what happens. The ball is in TNA’s court now and as Nate says they have a lot of assets: overseas deals, a loyal fan following, marketable talent, etc.

If they aren't on "traditional television", why couldn't they just put the show on their website?

You'd be asking for a crew of hundreds to move their entire lives over to Europe. They have a heel of a fan base over here in the UK but we get one taping per city once a year, I don't know how we'd be if it was a weekly or monthly thing. Just like when WWE come over, it's a nice treat once a year but too expensive for all the time. Anyways over the past few years I lost hope with TNA but I never wanted to see it go away, it was another place for guys to work and it did have it high points. Unfortunately it's not even a good place to work if you're a wrestler these days, AJ Styles has said several times that he makes a lot more on the indies then in TNA, granted he's a special case as he's IWGP Champion but many can make a living off the indies these days. I suppose we can't say TNA is dead yet as they might make it to another network using the fact they'll give them a million viewers every week. Now all we can do is wait for the "Vince Russo killed TNA" and "TNA killed Vince Russo" books to come out.

So long, TNA. Every day that you didn't change the ridiculous name of your promotion was another step towards the abyss. Still, the end came suddenly.
Your greatest value was your role in countless Botchamanias, and maybe, MAYBE, a career retrospective home video for Sting.
If Vince thought TNA could make a positive impact (forgive the pun) on the industry as a whole, he would've propped them up à la ECW.
To paraphrase one of the most famous lines in the history of the business, Vince McMahon didn't kill TNA -- TNA killed TNA.

I feel sorry for the talent left over there, if the company goes under then sadly it's not like WCW 2001 when the WWF was rolling in money and could pick up most of the talent for their own show. WWE are making cuts and losing money.
Unless you've had a lengthy run in the company before, you may get a legends deal for video games and Hall of Fame (if you're Kurt Angle or the Dudleys) but I'm not sure how many of those guys WWE are going to be offering full time deals to, especially when weeks ago you released about a dozen guys and morale is probably low from bad pay-offs with the Network, friends losing jobs and a few guys worrying whether they'll have a job when the next Network numbers come out.

At this point I think TNA's best option from a broadcasting standpoint would be to try to hook up with a lesser "network" like MyNetworkTV or The CW. Perhaps they could be the anchor of an "action night". The show would probably have to scale back to an hour a week...But that wouldn't be the worst thing ever.
