Would it be fair to say that WWE should now drop the graphic of Putin despite the recent event of the Malaysia Airlines tragedy in Ukraine?

Despite? You mean 'because' right?

Ah beat me to the punch, I was going to post a thread earlier asking whether people thought they may tone down his character due to recent events.
I was thinking WWE haven't been ones to shy away from controversy surrounding world news before (See: Stephanie McMahon comparing an international tragedy (9/11) to her father's drug trial) but now that so much emphasis is on what the stockholders think and the share prices, I can only see them dropping a few things, can't see them wishing to promote any type of pro-Russia propaganda, especially with their ties to the National Guard.

Good points Rob
I immediately thought of the Mohammed Hassan character in this situation. Is there a lot to change in the Rusev act with Lana? I mean they hype he's siding with Russia as his regular gimmick. Lana's delivery, as impressive as she is would need to eliminate any references which can be constructed by wwe critics as offensive or unreasonable at this time.
Either that, or Vince plunges to new depths by cranking up the volume on this bad boy and make Rusev the biggest c*** he can possibly be!!

I think WWE will keep the Putin graphic and the pro-Russian propaganda in Rusev & Lana's gimmick. WWE/WWF/WWWF have done stuff far far more political in the past; the tensions between Russia an deverybody else only raises the heel-ness of the gimmick.

News cycles being what they are, if I was WWE I'd go right back to it next week (unless there is another major incident). Her comments at the PPV were made when it was a little too soon, but if they made it this upcoming weekend I'd bet it would largely go over with little said. Anyway, since when has good taste ever stopped WWE?
