Since Greg brought up the AWA, how many people remember the GWF (Global Wrestling Federation)?
It used to air on ESPN here in the States, I remember Harlem Heat when they were the Ebony Experience, Hot Stuff Eddie Gilbert, Terry Garvin, Raven (Scotty Anthony), Cactus Jack, The Patriot, Stan Lane, and X-Pac as the Lightning Kid, lol (and other notables)

I don't recall ever hearing of the GWF, so I looked it up on Wikipedia. Apparently it only existed from June 1991 to September 1994. I don't think it aired in Canada, but from what I've read it seems like something I would have enjoyed.

It was like this best kept secret that only i knew, I would be all smart and go "Raven? Ohh yeah thats Scooty Anthony from GWF!"

ESPN used to be all about pro wrestling. They aired the AWA, GWF, and I think they may have even shown World Class at some point.
But GWF was pretty great. In fact when people talk about Cactus Jack, the first place I think about isn't the WWE, WCW, ECW, or TNA...It's GWF.
I was talking about this the other day during the Stickam show...I really miss the territories. I'm not sure how much money every promotion was making, but it was awesome as a fan to be able to watch as many as 7 different promotions during the week. A great time to be a fan.

I remember seeing GWF, either on ESPN Classics Canada or America One online.
