Alvarez/Aoki 2 goes down this Friday in Bellator. Thoughts and predictions?
Not two often you get two top 15 guys fighting each other outside of Zuffa.

Aoki via ruthless limb detachment.
I see lots of folks on various forums assuming Eddie will be able to magically use the "blueprint" Gil laid out to coast past Shinya. I don't buy it. Aoki won't have another brain fart like the Gil fight.
Too bad Crusher is 145 now because I wanna see him and Eddie scrap again too.

If you do like Aoki, you can get him as high as +205 right now.

I don't watch Bellator much but, that's not a fight I want to miss!

Im picking Alvarez decision. Shinya Aoki's a great fighter but is not big enough to fight americans at 155 i think he would be great at 145. Guys like Gray Maynard and others at 155 are just so much bigger than Aoki that it would be almost unfair.

Guys like Gray Maynard and others at 155 are just so much bigger than Aoki that it would be almost unfair. Aoki is deceptively big. He is already one of the taller lightweights at 5'11" and has a wiry, large frame with very little body fat. I dunno if cutting to 145 would be good for him. Maynard is only 5'8". He has a thicker build than Aoki, but I dunno if he'd be able to physically bully him. Even a natural WW like MACH wasn't exactly ragdolling Aoki. I think the reason people think Aoki is a "small" lightweight is because he's naturally lanky. But even when you see him matched up against more muscular lightweights (Razor Rob, Clementi, Alvarez) he sizes up pretty well despite being skinny. Physically, Rob is very similar to a lot of the other American lightweights, with a muscular build, heavy cut and between 5'8-5'9. Aoki certainly isn't undersized against him. Someone big like Crusher cutting down worked because he was carrying around a lot of extra muscle (which hurt his cardio). Not really the case with Shinya. I don't think size is an issue with him succeeding against Americans. The big issue for him is 155 is very top-heavy with decorated wrestlers who would be able to nullify his takedowns. His singles and doubles aren't that great and his clinch takedowns and guard leaps were much better.

well that fight was quick.. I loved Alvarez telling Rebney to show him the money, If his contract is done I'd like to see him challenge Gilbert Melendez

Ugh...for all the stand-up Aoki's been training his angles, footwork and overall striking still sucks.
And Bellator have one more fight let w. Alvarez. I am intrigued at where he goes from here. Very excited and happy for him. I remember seeing him fight live at a Bodog show years ago and it's high-time he got as much $$$ as possible.
