I can still remember looking forward to this Nitro Monday morning with my classmates. There was no Internet Cynicism about giving the match away, just excitement over getting to see Goldberg win the title for free. And this was a week after they hotshotted the WWF title back from Kane to Stone Cold on Raw! Good times.
Two lines I remembered, and still loved when I saw them again: Tony Schiavone's "Oh HELL YEAH!" when Goldberg hits the Jackhammer, and, of course, Hogan walking to the ring for the match and saying "I...am gonna kick...Goldberg's...BUTT."

Brother Pollock & Brother Ting, Unlike a lot of fans, I didn't have a problem with WCW airing the title match on TNT then and I really don't now. I think it's fine if companies put a huge match on free TV (where they get the most viewers) every once in awhile as it can create a buzz and breathe life into your product. The problem that WCW fell into was that almost immediately after this match, Bill Goldberg took a backseat to the nWo once again. If I remember correctly, during his 6-month reign he only main-evented 3 pay-per-views.
That being said, this night was an amazing experience as a WCW fan. The under-card was a mess as they had too many short matches for anyone to really get over, but the main event is still to this day one of my favorite matches. Goldberg was arguably the biggest star in wrestling and putting that main event in Atlanta just added to the atmosphere of the night. Moments like this are why Goldberg fans still hold him in high regard, and why guys like Crimson or RyBack will never be able to lace "Da Man's" boots.
All in all, this is an interesting episode of Nitro during WCW's last days of glory. While there would be some great moments over the next 4 years (like the reformation of the Horsemen or Booker T winning the World Title), they would never again reach the heights that they achieved in the mid to late 90's. But as someone who was/is/and always will be "WCW 4 Life", I give this show a Mongo McMichael's-approved 7.5/10!

I'm not sure what it was watching this show but it had me on a first class trip back to nostalgia.
Everything from the matches, the characters, even the fan reaction was something to behold. Seeing guys like Booker T, DDP, Hollywood Hogan and especially Goldberg getting massive crowd support is something the WWE would kill for nowadays.
I even remember watching this episode when it first aired (most likely on delay being in Canada) but even then I remember marking HUGE for the Goldberg win, thinking "No one can stop this guy" when it came to Goldberg. So to watch this event 14 years later to relive characters like Public Enemy and Chris Jericho brings a smile to this old wrestling fan's mind.
Overall, an 8/10 show, but most of that is seeing it through the rose coloured glasses of a WCW fan.
