I like WWE 13. The game does have it's share of glitches. Things like you remove a turnbuckle pad and it is removed in a different area. Smashing a guy through a table and having him levitate is a glitch but a fun one.
The Attitude Era mode was fun for anyone that lived through the era to go down memory lane. The fact Chyna was not a a part of the game made the D-X stuff kind of funny if you knew her actual role in some matches that was missing.
The Universe mode is better. As for the online stuff with X-box I am not all that thrilled with the set up. I imagine that is it in response to problems from the past. But the fact you can only have 6 players in the Royal Rumble and not select individual game modes is a problem.
Overall I like it more than the previous version 12 so for me as a video game buyer that is all I every judge it by.
Given this was C.M Punk on the cover I would ask how much input the cover athlete has in the game production if at all? I know in other sports franchises like Madden, NBA 2k13 and others the cover athletes usually offer some input in the process. Wondering if this is case with WWE Wrestlers and THQ?

A question for Bryan Williams: Why were so many current stars like Damien Sandow, Ryback, Lord Tensai, etc. not placed in the original roster and used as DLC when they are prominently used on tv the whole year.

A question for Bryan Williams: Why were so many current stars like Damien Sandow, Ryback, Lord Tensai, etc. not placed in the original roster and used as DLC when they are prominently used on tv the whole year. I can anticipate the answer to this question, I'll follow up with this: Most of the DLC characters are new characters, and appeared on the scene after the game was likely in development. Will THQ have any other downloadable characters made available if they appeared in the WWE recently or the near future? For example, The Shield or Fandango?

I had the privilege to own WWE 13 the day it came out and I must say it is my favourite wrestling video game period. Going into it I had high expectations with all the hype surrounding it and in my opinion it lived up to it.
Tho I do have a few questions.
What is with all the weird glitches such as loss of limbs and being stuck in the same position for a long period of time?
For WWE 14 are you guys thinking of sticking with the Attitude theme? In my opinion that made the roster and universe mode so much better.
And will you guys be able to include some more of the old stages for universe I.e. WCW and ECW stages?
All in all i give this game a 10 outta 10 and a must iwn for any wrestling fan!
On a side note I wanna say I'm a huge fan of Wai and John and I was wondering if you guys would review No Mercy 2007 featuring 3 WWE Title matches and the infamous Punjabi Prison Match.
Love the show keep up the great work.

First of all, let me say this is the best wrestling game I've ever played, and maybe one of the best games I've ever played period. 10/10, immediately. Growing up during the Attitude Era, I was having a finger-gasm playing through the Attitude Era mode. I was curious how they would intertwine all of the angles into different "stories" such as playing as DX for a certain number of matches, then playing as 'Taker, etc. How did you decide how that would work, because these characters you chose were so tangled together and involved in so many storylines from 97-99? Also, a question I've been DYING to know... I love the old school arenas, but why could you not make the aisles sideways like they were in real life instead of straight like they were in the game? Maybe I'm a stickler, but I'm just curious. Was it a programming issue or something? I'm no game designer, but it doesn't seem like a big deal to put in. Anyway, glad you guys are reviewing this. Keep up the great work. I'm looking forward for a Create-A-Wrestler showdown on YouTube in the near future of John Pollock vs. Wai Ting.

First of all I had a lot of fun with this game the catch finishers give it a cool new surprise element during gameplay and some of the things I've done have been awesome.
I like how at the end of attitude era it all came back full circle with attributing the Bret Hart vs Undertaker match from summerslam 97 as the beginning of the attitude era which I think goes a bit further back to the spring of 97 when Paul bearer came back and started to build what would be the debut of Kane. I enjoyed the bonus matches and the video clips as well.
I haven't figured out how to make the ring collapse but I'm getting there. The only problem I had with this game is the online gameplay I don't know if its the server or what but I find it tends to have a big lag and has totally turned me off of online for a while.
Overall I give this game 8/10 not the best wrestling game I've played I believe that one is the 2002 smackdown shut your mouth. However it's a really solid game.
I have two questions for the developer. My first one is why did you decide to take out the created wrestler story mode for the game?
My second is. How much more DLC is still to come before next year's game

I'm enjoying WWE '13. It's pretty much just WWE '12 with a few tweaks, but its fun to play and is great for killing time.
The best part of the game is by far the Attitude Era mode. As I only started watching wrestling in 2002, it served as a bit of a history lesson and let me experience what a lot of people consider to be the best era of professional wrestling. Small things like the inclusion of a ratings chart tracking how WWF was doing against WCW at the time added some nice context and overall it was a very fun mode to play through.
Unfortunately as with a lot of games there are quite a few glitches that you have to put up with. The most annoying has to be the '1-count glitch' which sees wrestlers no-selling finishers and other big moves all over the place making some matches very unrealistic.
Overall I'd give it an 8.5/10. It's fun for what it is but there are a lot of improvements that could be made.
Ouestion for Bryan:
Are there any plans to release a patch soon to fix bugs and glitches such as the '1-count glitch' and if so, when can we expect to see it released?
Thanks a lot guys and keep up the good work.

As far as WWE video games go, WWE 13 just might be one of, if not the best since WWF No Mercy, and yes, I fully admit being biased because of Attitude Era mode.
As far as this game goes, I have absolutely enjoyed it, its controlling settings didn't change much from WWE 12 so it still felt familiar. Haven't had much of a chance to play WWE Universe mode yet between work and my kinda-sorta girlfriend and stuff, but if it was written by Paul Heyman, then it is automatically better and more concise than the shit we see on tv. Now on to Attitude Era mode, and...I live it. To say it is fairly accurate is an understatement, from recreating the arenas, superatars, music, and even graphics, and Jim Ross and Jerry Lawler on call, you can tell this game had a lot of love given to it. You even had audio archives of Vince McMahon, Steve Austin, Mick Foley, and The Rock from the actual time period...my only gripes if any were while playing the storyline, was the ratings graph between WCW and WWF. Why was this here? This is attitude era mode, not Monday Night Wars mode! And finally, the fact that the game storyline ended at WrestleMania 15, which is the halfway point of the attitude era, and in my opinion, outside of Steve Austin winning the WWF championship, nothing from that show is all too memorable. Anyway, love the game and here is hoping WWE 14 carries the SECOND HALF of the Attitude Era because there is still much to tell.
So for a game that has yet to release its final downloadable content (on PlayStation Network at least) I score this
9.5/10.

WWE '13 is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination, but the ability to customize nearly everything in the game gives it so much replayability that it is hard to argue against it's quality. I am currently knee-deep in creating my own story, and look forward to sharing creations with other LAW/R-A-W members. I know a lot of people have discussed the glitches, but after being a game tester for a few years I can tell you that none of them threaten your ability to have fun (except for when you download the latest DLC and it wipes your Universe customizations, a bug which is currently being worked on). All the game modes are excellent, even if it was far too easy to unlock everything in the game through a normal play through. My son loves it, and it has become the first thing he asks to play when he earns PS3 time. That right there makes he game worth it, in my opinion.
Overall, I feel like this game will be remembered fondly in the future, however (from a fan standpoint, not a business standpoint) I do feel like it is time for THQ to step aside and let another team give it a shot. A lot of us want the WWE equivalent to Fire Pro, and maybe we'll get that with some new team at the helm. Hope you guys had fun with WWE '13!

I actually wrote a full review of this at wheredoesgodzillapoop.com/?p=3300 if anyone feels like seeing my comprehensive opinion. In a nutshell though, I found Attitude mode to be a great antidote to the stale campaigns of years past and the creation and sharing suite to be fantastic, but in-ring, Yuke's work is showing its age. For questions to Bryan: how important is it from the publisher's perspective to capture a broad range of fans, and does that interfere on the developer end? A WWE PG audience may want a dip in dip out basic fighting game, but older fans will rant about Fire Pro or No Mercy. How does that balance get struck? And related to that, is there any future in the WWE Allstars franchise? It was a surprise hit last year for people with a fondness for arcadey knockabouts like Wrestlefest.

It's a fun game with a lot of possibilities. I've found the game rather difficult as a regular match pretty much requires the ability to hit the very finicky REVERSE button. I haven't been able to truly explore the depths of this game as my PS3 died mid-game. That's what I get for trying to prepare for a Review-a-Wai.

I just want to say how great WWE 13 is but I have a question about the current game and possible question for future games.
1. Are the downloadable charcter disc locked or actually saved on the hardrrive? If they are not disc locked is their possible more releases of characters in the near future?
2. A feature I would like to see in possible future WWE games is when wrestlers in the game wear face paint, is it possible or difficult to have the face paint on the character rub off or smear while they are wrestling?

One more question i forgot to ask.....
Is it possible to add different ring types in the create arena mode. Like a six sided ring for instance?

Hi Mr. Williams, thanks for fielding our questions and sorry to hear about the problems THQ are having. Could you describe how character models are created? Would you consider scanning in wrestlers instead?
It must be difficult trying to keep the game current with WWE's evolving roster and storylines. Even DLC would have to be built into the architecture of the game, what is the cut-off point for new wrestlers/outfits etc for a November release? Do you ever get any fun things like storylines, outfits etc in advance for the game? Thanks for your time.
